| Helping the perception of sport bikes While it is true that the bike wasn't speeding by a huge amount, and this trooper probably could have done a better job of driving, the guy should have stopped and taken his lumps.
All that aside, what this punk really did was leave a bad taste in the mouth of the Highway Patrol, and they will now be harder on bikes, all thanks to one ounk that thought he was above the law.
Thanks, asshole - and all like him. http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=125868 |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes I hope the LEO recovers from his injuries and do not condone the running from said LEO but seems like a trained officer of 24 years would not put himself in a position to loose control of his car and inflict this much damage or possibly killing innocent motorist.
I know we have some LEO's here, why would a senior officer drive above his limits.
Sorry but I put these guys in the same catagory as stunters. They are putting the public at risk just the same as stunters with there antics and attitudes. JM2C |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes Undoubtedly the local PD now hates bikes (if they didn't already), but that trooper is 100% at fault here.
The rider was "only" speeding. Not running. |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes I read that, but I call bullshit.
That means an officer ****ed up and they'd love to pass the buck.
If he WAS running, there'd be no "may" about it. |

Trooper Bigler's keen eye noticed the speeding bullet biker.
Sgt. Riches: "He radars the bullet bike. The speed of the bullet bike was 64 miles per hour, in a 40 zone."
|
WTF is a "Bullet Bike" must be some kind of harley because it was only goung 64 mph |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes That's only one of the articles. The bike did run and the officer was in pursuit.
I agree that the officer needed a driving lesson, and that the bike wasn't moving at very high rate of speed, but when he saw the officer come around on him, he should have stopped rather than run.
The officer was at fault for his poor driving, but the bike was 100% at fault for not stopping. Fact is, he has helped to screw sport bikes in the area.
They showed part of the on board camera on the news last night. Can't find a link to it. |

I'd like to find that video, as the corner the trooper crashed in wasn't very sharp and you can see him drift and overcorrect into the field.
But the biker really should have stopped, taken his lumps and been on his way. |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes You saw the video and I didn't but if you pass a cop going that fast you might not see him "come around" especially if you just topped a rise (the cop is now on the other side of the hill. Without more info I cannot tell how much the rider is to blame (except for a 20 over ticket) Obviously the cop responded to the hazard of 20 over by doing 60 over to catch him and failed. I do hope he recovers fully though with no long term damage.
Oh and "person of interest" PLEASE STOP DOING DOUBLE SPEAK if you are involved with the government, my BS-o-meter needs a rest. |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes I don't know about the laws in Utah but in MA the cops have 2 miles to catch you. after that you're free and they stop chasing.
A friend of mie got pulled over last week on the highway and the trooper said "why didn't you run? its no fun when you don't run" patted him on the shoulder and let him go.

I think this cop probably had it out for "bullet bikers" long before this happened.
Here's a conundrum: If you were the rider, and it was an honest mistake not seeing the cop, would you come forward now that this has happened?
Not sure that I would TBH. |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes The bike DID see the officer, and sped up. It was after this time that the officer lost control of his vehicle.
In Utah, once you knowingly flee it is a felony, and if he is found he will forfeit his bike.
And if the officer didn't have a thing for bikes before, you can bet the entire department has one even more so now.
If I knew the guy I would turn him in in a heartbeat. |

| Re: Helping the perception of sport bikes Lose his bike hmmm so the fine is more than holding up a store. I am NOT for running but the confiscation of property is way out of control. When you watch TV have you noticed they only repo the expensive or new cars? Sorry to bring this off topic I will refrain from more bleating |

Rather the state is taking property IF it is a profitable venture (oh and usually without a trial as the object is charged not the person therefore no trial is due ) |

I guess a criminal charge in and of itself costs money rather than making it. |
