| Re: House and Senate introduce Health Insurance Bills for Motorcyclists Yeah I did that a while back actually. I then got a letter from our state representative about the issue and how appauld (sp) they were about the possible change. This reaches more than just motorcyclists, it's based more around activities, skate boarding, roller blading, Bicycling, etc. IT's total BS that insurance companies are basically lobbying for this bill so they don't have to cover any accidents, wtf is this country coming to. |

| Re: House and Senate introduce Health Insurance Bills for Motorcyclists Senator Stabenow's in the fold (D-MI, for those who are counting..) Quote:
Thank you for contacting me regarding your support for promoting health care parity for individuals participating in legal transportation and recreational activities. I share your view, and I appreciate hearing from you.
As you may know, there is a loophole in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that allows employers to refuse to offer health care coverage to employees who participate in recreational activities. I have supported legislation, and will continue to support legislation, that would make it illegal for an employer to discriminate against employees who participate in activities such as motorcycling, snowmobiling, horseback riding, running, or walking by not offering them health insurance. As legislation comes to the Senate floor, I will keep your views in mind.

| Re: House and Senate introduce Health Insurance Bills for Motorcyclists Definitely canned. I've never gotten anything but a programmed response from a Senator, though I've had personal responses from Congressmen and women.
I've met Debbie, she's very personable, not too 'slick'. Her son worked for me when he was in college.
They craft a response based on the Senator's policy, a staff person decides which one to send, and booyah. They'll still send you a polite one if they disagree with you.
Naturally, I'll be on the list of potential suckers when it's time to go looking for money, but I'll somehow withstand that onslaught.. |
