Update: She had a suspended driver's license for too many tickets.

From unlawful speed to careless driving, troopers said Cummings had a long list of moving violations. In fact, they said, they found a handful of tickets in one of her pockets.

Quite a few... My favorite was the dude whos dog shot him... he left a loaded gun on his couch and the dog jumped up or down or something and knocked it off and supposedly the gun discharged and shot the guy in the leg... We think he accidently shot himself when he was loading it or screwing around with it... But the dog story was funnier...

This is so sad... I agree it was her fault, but ones peers have a profound affect on their actions. Thats one of the big reasons that as soon as I see someone with a new bike, I give them my number, advise gear, and ask them to go on rides with me. Being a good influence is one of the best defenses we have against the law cracking down.

A question for you all in the U.S. In regards to helmet laws - what is your take on it all. Is it only certain states that dont require you to wear helmets. Do you think that the politicians dont care about you killing yourselves? Dont get me wrong, the AUS polly's make us wear helmets but still dont really care for the interests of motorcyclists.

Its hard to tell from the story, but it sounds like she wasn't riding alone. But I guess they weren't her friends anyway because a good friend wouldn't try to make a newer rider keep up at 4 times the legal speed limit. If thats the case, shame on them too.

This is pretty much a weekly story in San Diego, except we have to wear helmets. Sailor or Marine comes home from deployment... has about 30 large sitting in the bank account, and decides he needs a bike to be cool.

Heads down to one of the mega-dealers here that specialize in fleecing 20 year olds in love with liter bikes. Picks up that sick Gixxer 1 because everyone tells him its the thing to have.

Loops it leaving the parking lot. Bike gets dragged back up the driveway to get fixed, idiot leaves in ambulance to get patched up.
