I got some news about my RC today

... and it wasnt what I wanted.

I went to get tags for the 929, and seeing as how they expired last fall, was well overdue. So I get tags for the cage at the same time and that went off with out a hitch. When the bike came up, she said that she could not give me tags, because there was a "hold for stolen" flag on the 929 VIN to which I had the title in my hand. I told her about the other bike being stolen and having swapped the tag on it myself, but not with the state. She calls the state, and they tell me to call the county Sheriff office that made the inital report.

After I get to work I give the SO a call and talk to the records Sgt. After I tell her what is going on, she says that it makes no sense, that the tag should have been listed stolen separately. Well gues what, it wasnt. Whoever entered it into the computer listed the tag and the VIN of the 929 into the NCIC computer, and no mention of the RC in there.

So for the past year and a half, I have apparently been riding around on a bike that has been reported stolen, and whoever has my RC51 may have been stopped and not detained... The 929 should be "fixed" tomorrow and tags comming next week.

I can only hope that the jackoff that stole my bike has gotten stopped, and now thinks that it isnt flagged stolen, and will get stopped again. Time will tell. Now tomorrow, Ill call the SO and make sure that they entered my gun #'s correctly....

Sorry to hear it.

If the idiot has been stopped and let go, he's bound to screw up again. This time he's in for a surprise.

Re: I got some news about my RC today

That sucks...I hate dealing with bureaucratic phuckups that cause me a hassle. I went through a similar problem when my CB750 was stolen years ago.

If it's any consolation, I doubt your '51 is still around...

Re: I got some news about my RC today

Sounds like when I went to the SoS here to register and title my 96 TZ250. All I wanted was a title for the fire and theft insurance I was getting and I had the certificate of origin where it stated in 20 point bold type at the top:

Competition Vehicle for use on a closed course only!
Not legal for use on a public Street or Highway!

The lady took my money and handed me a title, license plate and current year tags . . .

It took about 20 minutes to get her to take them back and just charge me for a title.

Re: I got some news about my RC today

I hate to jinx you but you watch they will try to give you a stolen/recoved title for your 929.

When my F3 was totaled and I bought it back from the insurance company they tried to Tax me at blue book value on a bike I had owned for years. I still ened up having to pay Tax on the price I "paid" the insurance company even though they only reduced the amount of the check they gave me.

Then to top that off I had to get it inspected before I could replate it even though it was only bodywork damage. Had to pay for all they paper work, oh and the puplic servents (police) that we already pay to work charge to inspect bikes, even when they are on duty.

During the inspection he tried to say that my motor that had never been out of the bike had non-matching vin numbers, I called the Honda dealer ship and had them tell him the Engine vin and the frame vin never match on a Honda bike or it would have taken 2 weeks minimum to check the engine vin.

After it's been stolen, you don't want to find it.

Re: I got some news about my RC today

Once they pay you for it they own, they will not even call you if they find it.

Pretty slim chance they will find it. With track days and ebay stolen bikes have a lot of value so they don't get dumped like they used too.
