Originally Posted by Gecko5 TitusRacing (Chris) was involved in an accident on Sunday. It was a bike to bike crash, in which the other rider crossed the yellow line and hit Chris head on.
He was riding in a group ride in the back and another rider had some problems and they both pulled other while the rest of the group went ahead. Once the issue was addressed (5-10 mins later) they started going again. The rest of the group was waiting and decide to turn around and see what was going on. When the two groups meet up again the leader of the group that turned around crossed the yellow line and hit Chris.
I have been told that the bike Chris was riding had its frame cracked, front wheel bent in three places, tank was ejected and plastics were every where. He was thrown up into the air about 10 feet and landed on the road and ended up in the ditch. The rider that Chris had helped was able to stop and not hit anyone, but got showered with fluids and debris.
Chris has a broken left foreman and has to have a metal plate in it, cracked left knee cap, spinal area is bruised and swollen, and a badly swollen right t________ (guys worst fear). He is also have some short term memory problems from the concusion. Crazy stuff for a Sunday ride and he wasn't in fault or going fast.
Please put this guy in your prayers so he may go to heaven because he is living in hell on earth? Some of you may understand his situation. Update: (4-12-06)
Chris is awake and is at Wake Med hospital on New Bern Ave. Chris was riding his orange ZX-10R and the other rider was on a yellow ZX-10R. The other rider walked away from the crash without a scratch. I have been told the other rider was an older gentleman and was new to riding with this group.
The accident happen out by Beaver Dam Rd and Rock Springs Church Rd, which is NW of Wake Forest.
I got some photos from the accident and they should be attached. |
Ok, everybody, THANK YOU so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. Just to let you know I am home now. As Gecko, stated, most of the injurys are correct. I have a broken left forearm (w/plate and screws), a fractured left patella (knee cap), my back is bruise, but I also have L6 of my vertabra that has a fracture in it. The fracture is not need the spinal cord, so I am able to move. My twig and berrys have become a twig and watermelons. . Again, thank you everybody , I am for the most part doing ok and looking for a speedy recovery. I will put another post out a little later today. |

| Re: TitusRacing crashed... updated Hello, Everybody.
This is TitusRacing (Chris Canfield). Thank you very much for everybodies support. I am doing ok. I had to have surgery on my left forearm to put a plate and six pins in. L6 in my back is fractured and my left knee cap is fractured. I would have be a lot worse if God and the full race gear I was wearing had not be on my body. I am home and doing well. My back is the main pain that I have. It just really sucks because the accident happened on April 9th and I just bought the bike from my team mate on April 6th. All of the race gear for the bike was purchased on the 7th and now I don't have a motorcycle to start my race career. I will be back up and riding one day, but I don't know when. This idiot robbed me of my passion and dreams. I probably will never ride on the road again. Again, everybody, THANK YOU so much. Keep it safe out there and may you all have an angel on your shoulders.
Christopher Canfield

| Re: TitusRacing crashed... updated good to hear you made it out with hopefully no further complications.
Just think next year once you're all healed up you can start looking for another race bike. Something newer with fuel injection.

It was a Kawasaki ZX-10R 2004, fully race prepped. I just bought it three days before the accident off my teammate, still street legal at the time. I have had it for two months prior to the accident, but I bought it out right a couple of days before. The Honda that you see on this forum is my OLDER track bike. She is still in my shop. |
