Leave it on. If you leave it off you will see why it is on there, probably too late though. The 954 is notorious for "tankslappers", "Head shake".

If you said leave it on ...how much I should adjust
for the damper....now I'm using Hyperpro....I mean

Re: Advantages & disadvantages of a steering damper.

CJ- I'm not sure what you're asking, but yes, if you have a damper you should leave it on.

If the damper is working correctly, and the fluid isn't gummed up, or leaking, it shouldn't impede the normal tension of you turning your handlebars back and forth for the street.

If you're using it on the track - well, I don't have any personal experience there. You'll have to sort that out for yourself.

If you're using it at the strip, I'm sure you can adjust it for more tension, as you won't be negotiating any turns, and you'll be settling that front tire down after the start.

Re: Advantages & disadvantages of a steering damper.

Leave it on and ride, adjust so that under hard accelleration you do not have much of a headshake. They are adjustable, so adjust to your riding style.

Re: Advantages & disadvantages of a steering damper.

Adjust is down a little. It shouldn't feel any different except for reducing shake when exiting corners hard and when the front is just barely on the ground. Sounds like you have it set too tight.
