I agree. Knowing how the media is, they're going to focus on stunters and it's just going to give us more of a bad rep. However, it would be nice to see them at one of our local hangouts one night. Perhaps I should send our location in to see. I'd love to squid it all out and pop a wheelie on tv I'm surprised they didn't have Heraldo do the show since he seems to love ripping on sportbikes.....bastard.

I'd like to add if they hit local track days, that would be really cool and I'd perfer them to focus on responsible riding.

Yes, you can find more opinions on the new show in that thread. But that thread is mostly about Greg White, then it talks about this new show, then about how Fox/Speed Channel is evil, then about a cop forum, then about British sportscasters saying "craking good", then back to Greg White, etc. So, I thought it would be better just to post this update about the new show in its own thread.

The point is: there has been speculation about what the content and emphasis of the new show will be, and the PR blurb I quoted leaves little doubt that it will dwell on high revving, tire shredding, wheel standing, racers, stunt riders and weekend warriors, hot spots, urban streets, and young riders. It's not likely to be a good PR piece for anything approaching responsible motorcycling.

I share your pessimism.

I have been less critical than most about SPEED, figuring that, just as we as sportbike riders benefit from the enormous profits generated by cruiser sales, so we also benefit by NASCAR paying the bills at SPEED so we can see SOME motorcyle roadracing instead of NONE.

This is a different story, though. If they are trying for a weekly fast/furious on 2 wheels reality show, it would create another sensationalistic and negative 'crotch rocket' display.

Maybe it would be a good Idea if the show is indeed a Stunting and Street racing show we should all write to Speed and let them know how we feel about it.

Not me, I'd ride away like they had the plague. You never know what kind of spin the media is going to put on something, and how it will be interpreted.

Yeah, trackday spotlights wouldn't be bad, but I've seen a "local" program about them, and it can be done right and wrong - boring or entertaining/ informative.

Damnit. My insurance as an 18 year old guy on a sportbike is high enough. I dont need the insuance companies to see this show and jack up my primuims to the point that i have to sell the bike. This is going to do no more good for the sportbike community as The Fast And The Furious did for the sport compact car industry. All those damn movies got us tuners was more police attention and more idiots with sunfires putting on spoilers taking corners too damn fast. All the while boosting the prices of our insurance. All I can say is i'm going to watch the show, but it isn't going to help out the younger riders cause.

I am not sure how much the insurance groups watch TV but the reaction to the show from the riders can impact the rates.

On a side note, I hope you enjoy the F1 that is a great bike to learn on as well as have a bit of fun.

Personally I did like 2 Wheel Tuesday was a nice broad show about motorcycling. This new show sounds horrible but it could be worse they could be on choppers.

Today is the Beginnin of Superbikes Show..I've seen last week preview on about "Superbikes". It looked cool until it started showing Squid moves ...

I think it's not a good show for young impressionable types, accidents and E.R. visits due to motorcycles will probably go up a few % points. Its going to further damage the general reputation of bikers but, I'm still gonna watch it though.
