Cleaning Plastics

I just wanted to know how most people go about cleaning thier fairings. It seems like everytime i clean them i get lil black spots where the paint has been removed. How do the rest of you guys clean, what type of cloth do you use and cleaning agent. thx

Re: Cleaning Plastics

Okay, for the clearcoated sections w/ no decals, I clean with water, and protect with McGuires Gold Class.

For the plastic with decals not clearcoated over, I clean with water, and protect with spray-on/ wipe off wax - Eagle 1.

I used to use Honda spray polish on the decal sections, but....

oh, and I use bath towels, both to clean, and dry, and a wax specific cloth to obvious wipe off the McGuires.

Re: Cleaning Plastics

if its just a quick clean just some Honda Polish. I don't really like the can I have, its probably the new formula, so I think I'm gonna try something else. I used to use S100 spray cleaner (spray on hose off) but I'd rather spend the time riding than cleaning so I want something else thats quick for the inbetween cleanings.

when I do a good cleaning to get all the other parts along with the fairings I use dish detergent and a dish sponge. works good and leaves no marks, flim or residue.

It can also leave no wax ... or so the professionals say. Car wash specific soap isn't too expensive, and is supposed to leave the wax on..... not that any of my bikes have wax

Re: Cleaning Plastics

Protect all and a clean rag. I clean the suspension with greaser and a hose. Mine has rock chips all over the front end. I just get the dead bugs off. After 55,000 hard miles (just 55k today) it may not hurt to get a paint job. Been wanting to do something differant for while.
