Sport bike rental

So how many times have we seen this question - can I rent a sport bike?
At the big grand opening whoop-de-do at MMP on Saturday, there was a booth with this guy in it pimping out his new company.
He had quite a few visitors, and I wasn't able to talk with him as much as I wanted.
But the gist is that he has current model sport bikes to rent to anyone with a moto license and I think he said 25 y.o. He stated it could be for anything from a "test ride" type of situation to help in the decision making process for a purchase to even renting out for a track day. Yeah, track day rental.
The cost is sure to be a little higher than your typical car rental, and I didn't really get a clear answer on the insurance question.
But the guy was a very straight-forward and good guy.
I'm going to keep in touch with him to watch how he does. Could prove interesting for larger markets than this as well.
I believe he told me he officially opens for business on July 1.

Re: Sport bike rental

In Las Vegas (didn't have anything to do before my sis in laws wedding) I rented a sportbike from the company out there (sportbikerental.com I think). Was well worth it came out to $225 for the day, but they only had 600's. They do take a big deposit on the cc and you had to be over 25.

Re: Sport bike rental

Hmmmm....................that model and company name seem awfully familiar to this guy's.
Maybe he neglected to mention he is somehow affiliated. I sure hope he's not ripping their model, name and such off, as that could get nasty.
I just thought it was a great idea. I hadn't heard of these folks down in Vegas.
Interesting.

Still, I think it could be a viable business. Those that have balls in their SO's purse could rent one and pretend to be a man on occasion, an out of towner could rent one for either the track or to hit some local canyons, etc.

Re: Sport bike rental

225 for a bike rental would be worth it, Hmmmm...2 day track session. Give me the full coverage please.
Wonder if he would pick up the old wrecked bike and deliver the new one?

Re: Sport bike rental

I'd like to see the business plan. Insurance is a mother****er in the rental biz.

Re: Sport bike rental

There's a gentleman here in the CA bay area that rents out track bikes, as well as trailer and gear etc.

Pretty cool

Re: Sport bike rental

Don't alot of these places have really high deductibles if you bin the bike? i was looking up a hardly for a friend and it was like 3000.00 with the highest insurace they had. In hawaii they rented bikes, but you wouldn't want to ride the shiney death traps. I helped a guy that almost wrecked when a front breack caliper lost a bolt. This was not the first time i had heard of thier bikes falling apart.

I never feel safe on a bike i haven't maintained or gave a good once over before riding.

I definally gave the bike I took out a good look over. This company had a $1000.00, $3000.00, and $5000.00 dudictable options. The lower dudictables had and additional charge for using the lower dedictable. I'm sure insurance is why this place only had 600's.

Re: Sport bike rental

When I was in Cali I checked out sportbikerental.com but they did not sell insurance, so if anything happened you had to pay. In the end I rented a BMW from Longbeach BMW and they sold insurance for 24/day with only 1K deductable.

for BMW Longbeach, they were very helpful and high lighted on a map all the roads that are a must ride for Socal
