Re: For those who hate bugs

Reminds me of one night in Maine coming home from Richmond to Topsham. Wife (at the time) asks, "what is that hitting the windshield?" Told her, "Mosquitos". As you married men know, "I was WRONG". So, got her up in the AM, showed her the van and said, "now you can wash off those no existant mosquitos". WHat? She was in shock at the number and size of those beast. Could bleed out a small child in minutes. Between those and swarms of blackflies ya can have it.

Keep that plastic polish on hand.

As for those carcasses in the air filter, I let those buggers dry out for a while. It's kinda like making beef jerky, once they're done they come off quite easy. This spring I had a June Bug take out my visor snap on my Suomy. The friggin piece cracked on impact and broke off completely one day. Yes a bug, did that! I swear sometimes I think it's kids throwing rocks they hit so hard.

The worst for me is when they splatter all over the visor and you can't see a dam thing, but it's gotta be a big one like a June bug. You can't wipe it off immediately or it smears, you gotta wait for it to dry. I've learned to be quite proficient and dodging the big ones when I see them coming. Fire flys are always good too if you hit them when their glowing......."is that a glowing Kawasaki? No it's a honda coverd in dead fire flys, lol..."
Amen to the junebugs being hard. I have a couple of buddies who ride cruisers, one of them was doin around 160km/h and took one under the eye and cut him open for 6 stitches. The next day he went and bought a windshield

Couldn't bring himself to buy a full-face?

Everytime I ride, my helmet looks a lot like that first post. I always have water and terry cloth on hand - it's a must here in the central valley.
