Re: Tire Installation - Performance Honda - Raleigh, NC

Slightly off topic but here goes:

I asked my purchasing agent in Florida to get me two Michelin Pilot Sport rears and one front for my 2000 929. He called this morning and is unable to find Sports in any catalog (although they are listed online) nor does any dealer nearby have them in stock. I would like to continue using the Sports since I just put a brand new front on - the rear is down to about 1 1/2 mm and will want replacing just now. The new Sport front tire came with the bike
Can anyone shed any light on where to buy Pilot Sports, or failing that tell me if I can successfully mix a Sport up front and run a Power behind without upsetting the handling or getting into a super high wear situation. I only ride street, there are no tracks for bikes here and being an island I don't put on high miles as riding is limited on a 14 x 24 mile rock although we have some great scenery. Roads are pretty good generally although there are some that are a bit bumpy and potholed that I try to avoid.
Speeds are not ever much more than 60 mph and that is usually on an early Sunday morning when there is no traffic. I need good grip as the roads are asphalt but made using crushed limestone as aggregate - A well used road can almost "polish". I have no idea what the difference is between the Sports and the Powers but I do see that a good few guys on the forum use the Powers,
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Try Pilot Powers, I believe they replaced the Sports or you could go for the Roads or Race.

Michelin offers

Re: Michelin Pilot Sports

I was a long time lover of the Pilot Sports and the Pilot Powers have more grip everywhere - including the rain (and there's very little warm up time).

I would NOT advise that you put on a Pilot Power rear and a Pilot Sport front as the Power has much more grip: you don't want to out-ride the front tire.

I would bite the bullet on the front and get a set of pilot power

Many thanks to all - have ordered the Powers. The bullet will be bitten on the front tire.
