| Should I get track tires or ??? OK one more questions. I decided to change the tires on the track bike. Yes this is my first track day.
Can I get by with using street tires which I can get for a good deal (ie Dunlop Qualifiers) or do I really need to splurge and buy a sticky track tire (ie 208GP)
Mind you this is my first track day so I am not sure if the stickier tires will even benefit me. Let me know your opinions I will be ordering the tires after lunch. |

| Re: Should I get track tires or ??? You'll be fine with a good street tire like a Pilot Power, Bridgestone BT014, Diablo or Qualifier |

They worked well and did not have any serious issues, the last day I got a set of Dunlop 209GP, and they felt good as well.
IMO go with what you can afford. |

| Re: Should I get track tires or ??? FWIW that 208 is not the one discussed above. That is the previous version for the street (replaced by Qualifier) The track version is a 208GPA. That said I think you will be pleased. The only other thing is that the grip may be better on the back so if you are one of the instantly fast guys be aware this might be the case. Be careful and have fun

| Re: Should I get track tires or ??? I would say you're better off going with a Qualifier type tire. First off it has plenty of stick to get you into 'advanced' classes, and it'll help you focus on your technique for riding fast. Sticky tires can let you get away with bad habits. |

Put those two together...
FWIW: I thrashed a set of D208 tires on my first track day and I exceeded the traction of the tire (much to my chagrin: I've got to put together the bike for the next track day) |
