| WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE? Just checking out there to see what riding weather everyone is experiencing.
I remember the winter posts complaining of the "too cold", "to snowy" "too wet" situations...........and now we are in full summer it is actually too hot in places.
Here in Redding we have been having 115 degree days, it's like being in a blast furnace. We have had temps 105 to 115 for the last 3 weeks, with the majority of days at 110-112. It was 113 yesterday and looks like it will be same today.
How's things in your neighborhood? |

I am agreeing with Leykis... We should crank the AC up.. If we conserve then they wont upgrade the capacity of the generation systems... If we break it they get to charge us butloads of money in a game of catch up to meet demands. Trick them into making too much so it will be there when we need it. |

What was all that bulllshit a few years ago when Davis was governor and we were told about the threatened brownouts/blackouts in California....only to find out it was a "conspiracy" to up the price of electricity. When he asked for Federal assistance, Bush told Davis "You've got a problem, sort it out". And suddenly there was no power problem.
It gets hot here every year..........if the powers that be can't keep pace with the demand they should upgrade the power supply system. I live within 10 miles of Shasta Dam......and I bet if I call them right now they will say they are not being asked to produce ANY electricity......I know because I called them during the Davis/brownout thing......all their huge generators were sitting there idle!!
Hey wait a minute.....aren't we getting off subject....this belongs in the political section.
Back to riding.......it's too damned hot to ride a bike here today |

And suddenly there was no power problem. | There was a bit of a conspiracy on the part of Enron and other energy producers/traders, but the real problem was Pete Wilson starting the process, and Grey Davis not reacting to the crisis with any kind of economic reality. CA came up with a bullshit deal to only halfway dregulate that could never work. The politicians need to shoulder a fair share of the blame on this deal.
The problem was largely due to Davis. He treated all parties at a key meeting with energy people, set-up by Clinton's outgoing energy secretary, with the utmost contempt. If I was Bush, I'd have told the arrogant moron to pound sand too. He'd had his chance already.
Davis declared war on the energy companies, who of course, had no problem screwing him in the end...energy not being a simple supply and demand thing available just anywhere.
