What should I do?

I'm getting deployed next month, and I'm trying to think of what to do with my bike. Few things I was thinking about was possibly given the key to a friend and have them start it up once a week. Also, have them change the oil and add fresh gas every once in a while. Another was to just drain all the fluid out. I'm going to be gone for about 6 months, and I just want my baby to be okay.

Re: What should I do?

Treat it as you are winterizing it.

Fill up the tank and put Stabil in it.
Disconnect the battery
Put the bike up on front and rear stands.

That is all I can think about since we don't winterize out here.

Have a good deployment, come back safe and keep in touch when ya can. Let us know if you need anything. Lots of us have been there done that.

Ahhh, in that case. I will meet you at the border and keep it here in my garage, "safe and sound".

Seriously though, all the above still applies. If you can find one of those environmentally stabil storage facilities that would be the way to go. This way your friends won't be tempted to take her out for a spin.

Then when you get back, just flush everything and start anew.
