SPEED and SSG:
I posted something along these lines in the "Members Forum" awhile back, and thought it would open up some discussion along the lines of your posts in this thread. Unfortunately I may have shat in the wrong sandbox, but I like your ideals.
Peace All. | Thanks.
Have a link for the "Members Forum" thread you speak of?
You're still in the West, would be nice to have you post up there again | |

| Re: Proper Gear I was riding back from the airstrip the other day nd saw two squids riding the freeway. What really got to me was that in addition to not wearing a shred of gear, each bike had what appeared to be a perfectly good full face helmet hanging off it.
Duh! What worries me more is most of these idiots on sport bikes can't ride for sh*t, and probably couldn't ride out of a tough situation. Just bad things waiting to happen, so they can make our sport look more dangerous and raise insurance rates. |

shouldn't he be more worried about hurting himself on the camera than slamming his face off the windscreen? thats not a moto guzzi, he probably just thinks thats the jacket makers name. Quote:

what person? the one who rides with gear on? I'm probably underdressed compared to most on this site. but at a minimum when I'm on the bike its helmet, gloves, jacket and atleast some kind of boots. I'm actually going to go buy some textile or mesh pants this week, not sure which I want yet. I think I'm gonna go with the textile though.

what person? the one who rides with gear on? I'm probably under-dressed compared to most on this site. but at a minimum when I'm on the bike its helmet, gloves, jacket and at least some kind of boots. I don't think your under-dressed at all. Other than the pants - you're wearing full gear.
What I meant by "that person" when I was responding to Scout was that I thought (very sarcastically) I was the one to save the world! Guess not...

well I just mean underdressed when compared to a lot of people on this site who are typically covered head to toe. They are a main reason I have calmed down a lot and don't ride as stupid as I used to. and also why I try to wear as much gear as possible. In the cooler months I'll wear full leathers to work and get made fun of, but whatever I'm having more fun than most there (I admit though quit often me and my boss talk about riding/bikes, in fact we talk about that more than work stuff).
Talking to this group about safety gear is preaching to the choir.

About calming down - I was blessed and LUCKY to have started my street adventures at an older age. I was dirt riding from a tender young age. I never stunted - never will. These people have been a HUGE asset to me and my riding adventures. Without them - I might be dead.

I would SPEED, but it would take up the other 50% of my time. I pop by as a guest every now and then to see 'happenings' to the south of me...

... Especially considering that with such little apparel on them: they wouldn't be the best customers to have. |

Most likely run by the same people you see wearing next to nothing. So..they don't have an image to maintain. Then again - they might want to attract SQUIDS as they are a rapidly growing (grrrrrr) sect of sport bike rider.

but why is the guy who started the thread saying stuff about it being really hot. he's in NH, it hasn't really gotten all that hot up in this part ofthe country this summer. I think there's only been a handful of days over 90°.

well not really, they are comparing different regions.
I'm comparing my weather with his weather which is less than 100 miles away. sure temperature is relative but its not like we're saying Mojave thinks its cold up here cause he's a little wussy . This guy lives here.
