| RC 51 vs. 1000rr So what are the major diffrences in these two bike and I'm not talking technical I'm talking about performance. Why would someone whom rides on the street pick one over the other?

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr Well, the rc is a lot less popular that the RR. So, the squids go for what's hot (that of coarse being the RR). Some people like the tone of a v-twin, and all that luscious torque! |

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr RR pulls like a dirt bike (higher RPM it just pulls harder until redline. Nice handling but needs to be pointed. More comfy than an RC. 2 trip gauges. Built in damper. Better mileage
RC built like a racebike. Pulls very linear thus power is always there and steady but lacks the oh #### factor. Tends to stay where you point it, but can be moved in the turns. Comfort factor zero. Cool sounding. Hardly needs a damper. 1st gear is stupid high with stock gearing even for street use regear this bike. Tons of cool mods. Heavier but you can loose weight fast just getting slip ons as the stockers are heavy and two of them.
VERY different bikes despite both being liter honda sportbikes.

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr I have had both, One the rc51 is like a big single four stroke, where the 1000 is like a 250 two stroke. The 51 has more soul its more of a viseral experence to ride. The 1000 is just a power house it has plenty of torque but it is a 4cyl. Both are great bikes. I wish i had kept my 51 but i like my rr at the same time if i had the extra cash i would have a 51 for a track bike. I think it pulls of turn harder. This is just my opinion take that for what you will. |

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr I haven't run my RC back to back with the 1000rr, but I have run several 929/954/GSXR/ZX10s back to back with it. The inlines all have enough motor to putt around on the street below 4K without much effort, while they sort of "come on the pipe" around 8K or thereabouts and the acceleration gets pretty intense.
The RC doesn't have a lot of anything below 4K (contrary to popular opinion), but starts moving pretty respectably around 6K. The power isn't a rush, it just keeps building steam until it signs off around 10K. Properly geared (and properly shifted), it can be ridden pretty quickly, it just isn't the same as the Inline motor as everyone else has said.
When kept in the meat of the powerband (8.5K through 10.2K), the RC makes serious progress, especially while driving on corner exit. You just need to rethink shifting and the temptation to try and get the thing to rev past 10K. This is very deceptive because unlike an inline which starts to taper off once past the redline (and before the limiter), the RC seems like it's just waking up at redline but now it's time to shift (just ask LTL ).
The RC chassis is much stiffer than the rr, so it's very stable midcorner (to the point where many riders have lowsided because they felt they were still within the limits of traction due to the overall stability and rigidity of the frame). The feedback from the tires is different than many other bikes (including most other V Twins) so it takes a bit of relearning before you can really start riding the bike fast without pushing the front end to the point of a lowside.
There are so many differences, it's hard to describe. The best way is to ride both of them and buy the one that makes you smile the most. |

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr Contrary to most of what you'll hear, the 1000RR actually has more torque over a broader spread than the RC. I also find it to be more stable in corners than the SP1 and SP2s I have tried. Both are designed for the racetrack but I would say the CBR makes a better streetbike.
Someone said it in here and I would agree; the RC has more soul. Almost worth the price for the sound alone. |

| Re: RC 51 vs. 1000rr I rode an RC when I was looking for a bike a few months ago. I loved both the RC and the RR and it was a tough call. Finally it came to using the bike as a commuter. Living in Texas, heat is an important issue to be considered. The side radiators on the RC tipped it for me. But I am very sure the RC would have made me just as happy. |

That's the way to say it. The RC just has a character that's hard to describe. There are days when I get off it, and say "God Damn that's a great bike!" Then there are days when I say, "Why am I struggling to find the right (insert anything here)."
I like the challenge, I like the bike because of what it gives me back. I have no need for 180+mph on the street. My RC will top out at 176 (indicated) but again, riding to work and playing in the canyons, it's just more fun than any in-line four I've ever riden. Someday very soon, it will become my dedicated track bike and I am looking forward to that day. |

Of course, this is coming from a pompous blowhard, but here's what he had to say: 1000RR.net - View Single Post - RC51 vs CBR1K |
