OK, I looked - I did 12 track days this year at an average cost of $150 per. Plus I upgraded the suspension on my SV and added bodywork and a bunch of other things like slicks, 1/5 turn throttle and a damper. This winter I might do the "cam swap" mod that is supposed to add some hp and ft-lbs and I'll paint the fairing.
Next year, FireBlades at Grattan and Miller are on the schedule, plus another trip to Nirvana, Alabama (Barber). I want to do the whole track at Autobahn, try Beaver Run and ride at Mid-Ohio. The latter should be my only contact with STT. The rest will be private track days, NESBA, or FireBlades.
Oh, and the Scwantz school.
Ka-Ching!

As far as my $$ spent, I do not want to think about it as I purchased the bike and trailer before I even got to turn a tire on a track and them after the year I decided my Ranger was not cutting the mustard anylonger and bought a 2007 Chevrolet and the add in tires and track fees and gas and misc costs. That is why I am going to an interview tomorrow for a part time job.
Rough estimate $40,000
And i plan on doing novice racing next year so may be more than that. Anybody want to sponsor me? |

That will be the rough part, learning the tracks. I am kind of like you, as I need a good 3/4 day to learn the track and to get the turn-in points and brake markers in my thick skull.
But I know I will not be really competitive but just want to try it out. Just to say I did it. |

I can sponsor you something but it won't be for your bike....... I have a tons of white flags.
Really, my buddy Nick and I were just talking about that earlier. Wera as a form you can fill for novice racing, $100, and hope that your number is still available (or change your number), Team Chicago certificate and then you are sign up. |

As an instructor with Dan and crew for several years, I feel the Team Chicago School (although a really great event), is not really a race school and would sign up for the WERA or CCS school before beginning your career. |

TC does a pretty good job of acquanting a person with the track, the flags, how to stay out of trouble at the track, how to get on and off, and some of the basic lines at Grattan. It does not teach you how to ride, only gets you familiar enough to hopefully not be too big of a hazard to others on track and as you start your track day career. |
