Re: Best performance Littre Bike.

Okay this is me being one of the non-dickheads now. Drop the Duc off the list. Great bike don't get me wrong but if something breaks it'll cost you loads more to fix it. Honda makes a good strong product I don't ever see myself leaving it. Now as far as faster... if you aren't good on a bike, don't be surprised when a 600cc leaves you in the dust on the straight and in the corners.
P.S to call everyone a dickhead who is joking around isn't a good way to get answers, you burnt up your 250 doing burnouts so it was not beyond thought that you are just looking for the fastest way to your death.

P.S.S. thanks to all the "dickheads" who made me laugh today during a shitty day of work with this thread

Duc are a bit to expensive to get too. In NZthey are about NZD20k for a 600cc model. Maybe ill get one when im gona become reach, but not now.

As for honda, i have a Honda Accord, and i know how reliable it is. They do make great products, i agree with that. But my main choise is between Yamaha R1 07 (22,459NZD) and a CBR1K (19,459NZD). The only problem ive heard bout new R1 is that it has a throughtle glutch on 5500RMP on second gear. The only problems with CBR1k is that it is a bit to rought on ur rear tire due to the FI settings(can be easily fixed tho) and that the exhoust get realy hot under the passeger seat. So is there anything else i should know?

And bout that fkn 250 clutch. Well i didnt know that 250cc's are so fragile, ive paid about 300USD to fix it. Gona pick it up 2morrow. I wasnt showing of realy, this bike is more like a toy to me, im just waiting for someone to buy my car, before im gona get the cbr.

I totally understand, again the great thing about personal preference. I'm not sure I will ever buy a new bike. I think that you can save a ton of cash by buying a bike that someone else has lost on depreciation. Also, I think the newer Ducs are ugly. The new 1098 was a step in the right direction in my opinion but still way down on style compared to the 916/996's. With only 1900 miles and all the depreciation already gone that bike on eBay makes me wish I had the extra money laying around.

Personally if I was in your situation I would buy which one looks the best to you, has the best price, or appeals to you for whatever reason. The bikes you listed are all so close on performance that the difference would only be noted by a professional rider. As long as you are a better rider than the guy next to you the fact that CycleWorld or whoever says your bike is .2 seconds slower in the 1/4 mile doesn't mean a dang thing.

I would get the new Yamaha R-1...The by-wire throttle, the variable-length intake runners, the re-tuned exup-valve, etc. all combine to make it the most cutting-edge bike out there. It also looks great, can be modded nicely with an exhaust silencer and cosmetic bits, is no more or less expensive than the rest, and is just kind of cool...

I was thinking bout that, but is it as easy to ride as fireblade? Will it be a pain in the ass to wake up at 6.00 and get it to go 50km one way and the other, every day?

Hard to argue with that, though I do think the Yamaha's are really ugly. The R-6 is kinda the same way. A lot more technology, high and low speed damping, things like that for the same price. The practical side of me would have a hard time not buying the Yamaha with all you get for the money. The emotional side of me would have a hard time being seen on something so odd looking.

Sounds like it should be an easy choice for you then.

G'day mate,

You are on the right track with the CBR. My next choice would be the new GSXR1000 K7. Both bikes are an easier ride compared to the R1 and ZX10 options. Any power differences are not even worth worrying about.

Good luck with the purchasing.

You said you like the looks, and up above I said that all the performance numbers don't matter. I don't think there is any one that is WAY better than another. The Yamaha's have a lot of high tech crap on them. It gives some bling factor but I'm not sure it makes them better. Might just be that much more to go wrong. It isn't what I would buy but if you like it there isn't a good reason not to get it...except that it isn't a Honda. As far as Honda's go I personally really like the Blue/Yellow CBR 1000RR.

I love both of my modern bikes, but I fiend for the R1 because of the gadgetry...Having the best new technology appeals to me the way a virtuoso musician appeals to me...Sure, all the bikes are basically equivalent, you will never ride any where near their limits, and they will kill you faster than you will prematurely ejaculate while looking at that hot little piece that took your attention away from the road for a split second; But c'mon...The Gixxer (and I had an old 1100, so I have no bias against them) is just ugly with that poseur exhaust shorter than my johnson...The 'blade is awsome, but unless it is a V-5, it ain't got the trickle-down from moto-Gp like they advertise...So, if the looks are not offensive to you, and you can handle the saddle-time, get the extended warranty for the full 4 or 5 years, and pick-up the mostechnologically advanced sportbike made in the last 15-yrs.

Im still probably not gona have 20k before april. Im not buying a bike 2morrow, but im just goin around forums like this and listen to what people have to say.
Personaly i have nothing against gixxers or kawa, but i just like Yamaha, Honda and Ducs. Since Ducs are too expensive, i have to pick between Yamaha and Honda, my two most fav brands. As i said before most of my durtbikes(and some ATVS) were from Yamaha. I enjoyed them alot, and there is hardly anything bad i can tell about them(exept maybe the coolorent-radiator rubber house that was just too close to the exhoust not to be burned on YZ250). As for honda, right now we have 2 Honda cars in the garage, a honda bike(my vtr) and a honda loanmotor=). All of them are done with very hight quality. And ive done research on cbr, people say it is an awsome bike.
As for R1 everybody is happy, but some people are having problems with computer, as on 2nd gear and on 5500RMP the bike some times just doesnt respond. Some r1(2006) sometimes would shutdown on very hight speeds.
Anyway i have time to think about what bike i want better, and listen to more people.=)

Well, the '06 R-1 is totally different than the '07, so don't compare them. I have a CR-V too, had a '91 Prelude, my two Honda bikes, and I hope this shows I love Hondas...Given the chance, I would still get the 2007 R-1...Too cool.

I have always been fond of the R1 ever since my buddy got one back in 02. but like everyone else here is saying, unless you are a pro the power difference isn't worth bringing up, its going to be about what one appeals to you the most.

Re: Best performance Littre Bike.

I've owned Yamahas, Suzukis, Kawasakis, even a hardley, and I'm on my third Honda.

It seems every bike I've had with the exception of the Hondas I've always had some issue. My Yamaha ( granted it was carbed and not fuel injected ) rode poorly until it was fully warmed up, and then the outside temp would always affect how well it ran. Both my GSXR's had some kind of electrical issue. The Kawasaki was ok, it just wasn't my thing so I didn't keep it long. The Hondas never disappointed me and I never regretted owning any of them including the one I have now. They've always been the most comfortable bikes I've been on, the most forgiving if I made an error, and by far the most reliable. I went back and forth on either another GSXR or the CBR when I bought this latest bike and I've very happy with the CBR.
So, the CBR gets my vote.
