First time on a bike?

So what was everyones first experience on a bike?

I was about twelve when I got my first taste. My friend and I got his dads ancient Honda running, no idea what it was, it was early 70's street bike with an inline two-cylinder engine (I know that because we tore the entire engine apart a week later and it never ran again). If we got it over about 15 mph it would cut out, which was probably a good thing. By the end of the first day we were jumping it off a small dirt ramp (the big heavy thing would get about 6in of air). We lived in a small little subdivision where everyone knew everyone so we could ride it around on the streets and no one thought anything of it. My parents wouldn't let me have a bike even though I begged for about the next 6 years. In high school I spent a lot of time on friends dirt bikes and ATV's, after I moved out of the house not only did they give in to my little bro but they bought him a dirtbike and my dad liked it enough that he got his own. That opened the floodgates and since then I've gone through a Honda 100, KX 100 2-stroke (step in the wrong direction from the Honda), KDX 250 (worst brakes of anything with wheels ever), CR 250, and then my bro bought a 95 FZR 600 from the same friend at the beginning of this story. Then I was sold on street bikes and so I bought my CBR fifteen years after that first taste.

Re: First time on a bike?

First bike I was ever on was when I was about 15. My aunt was bike sitting for some friends who told us to feel free to take em for a ride. A brand new pair of CR500s. My first pass through the yard was so slow that I got it stuck in a small hole (think big ass mole hole wasn't too big) and dropped it. Got it back up got front tire through it and stalled it when the back hit. Well now I was a little frustrated. Started her back up laid on the gas dropped the clutch and as fast as I could blink I was off the bike the front was in the air and I was chasing it in hopes of keeping my one hand on the bars and keeping it upright.... didn't happen. After that I got scared and made sure to keep going nice and easy until I got a good feel for it.

Re: First time on a bike?

My first time was on a Honda Trail 70 when I was 9 years old. Been hooked ever since. Rode my friends dirt bikes for the longest time because parents wouldn't buy me one. Saved up from a paper route and bought a Honda 125 when I was 12. Evel Knievel was pretty hot at the time, so I wanted to attempt to jump everything that stood in my way. That didn't last long. Jumped a pile of brush we stacked up, landed wrong, broke the bike, broke my collar bone, and got my ass broke by my dad for breaking everything else. Motorcycles were out of the picture until I was 17. I went through a couple of Triumphs and a BSA up until I was almost 19. The great state of VA's drinking age was still 18 back then, so I found myself hanging out in biker bars and along came the Harleys. I think I've gone full circle cause you all know what I'm on... Hondas. Maybe it was just meant to be that way.
