| Re: Can-Am Spyder Roadster Stupidly I was off this board for some 4 months. Though I feel the Bombardier Spyder trike has been well discussed on this board as most other m/c boards.
At 76+ years of age & with a maze of injuries something like the Spyder would suit me. Besides I know a lot of older riders, that do not feel safe on their HD or Cruiser that is in the garage or shed for past three yrs or more & have not riden those yrs. All want to decent trike, but all they might get is something with a solo wheel to the front & dual to the rear, which is not as good, with a m/c engine, VW or other cage powerplant built by someone in their 70s so good chance in a year said builder will have passed away so reason there was no warantee or time for the old builder to work on some of the wrong doings. Reason the Spyder is more attractive not to mention all the tricks to give it traction, power steering ABS brakes & so much more------by a firm that has built snowmobiles, ATVs, boats & aircraft to even the best waterbomber in the world & are used all around the world. Oh yes & the Can-Am enduro/MX irons.
Still most, of the above Cdns, look at the cost & say they would rather buy a snappy car for in Cdn the price is between 19 & 20 grand plus taxes for the various models.
The engineers of Bombardier feel they have the cake with the iceing on it & possibly they have though others know there is a possibly opening for them like the T-Rex to ones that lean. Ten yrs from now we will have a much better idea.
Personally I would want to sit back & see them get some of the bugs out of it & also be able to actually test drive them. After all there are some immediate changes & one is the brake pedal is situated far to high, but it could be in some of their electronical gear for there is a maze of it.
