| Keeping a motorcycle in a storage unit..tips? I recently began renting a storage unit to keep my new CBR in. I only plan to use it for bike nights and weekend rides.
I was wondering if you guys have any tips.
My first thought was that it gets pretty hot inside the unit but I can't think of anything that it might damage. One of the guys I ride with said I could keep the gas cap unhooked so the fumes could vent but I thought that was a bad idea. I wouldn't want to fill up the 5'x10' unit with gas fumes?!?! It seems like the ideal combustion situation to me.
Any other thoughts? Insurance? Fairings?
Does anybody else keep their bike in a storage rental unit? |

i have a sweet alarm on it and i will keep a cover on it too.
climate controlled units are almost double the cost here in AZ. good thought though. i might move to a cc unit if i have any problems. |

Just a thought. |

| Re: Keeping a motorcycle in a storage unit..tips? In a hot climate it is more than worth the extra rent for a climate controlled unit. The hotter it is, the faster things will degrade (read - rubber hoses, tires, gas in the tank etc). the previous owner of my 929 kept it in the air conditioned showroom of the Ford/Mazda dealership where he was the workshop manager. Bike still looks new. |

| Re: Keeping a motorcycle in a storage unit..tips? on and as far as moving it to a cc building... I would do it so that one you have less to worry about and two - you can bring the swingarm stand to the unit and work on it in the AC!!!! |
