| Race bodywork Hey all,
I've not been around too much lately since I bougth a GS. Sorry, but it truly is the perfect bike. 14k miles in 51/2 months should speak for itself.
Anyway, thhe wonderful 954 is now my track bike. I let a friend take it for a spin and sure enough she binned it pretty good. Nevertheless, after blowing up her credit card for parts, I ended up getting a Hot Bodies set. I've not heard anything and couldn't find anything on the search function about them, so I just ordered them.
Good choice? Feedback compared to sharkskinz?
I'm assuming I'll be able to use my factory seat and there are holes drilled for factory mounting. Again, the bike is NOT going to be ridden on the street- the GS SPANKS any bike I wish at street paces- so I don't much care about aesthetics.
Thanks for the input.

| Re: Race bokskinzdywork I can't think of a good answer, but maybe because I am so embarassed about all those GS bikes that spank me any time they want. |

| Re: Race bokskinzdywork I've heard the HotBodies bodywork is good and fits very well. If you end up needing race fasteners for the Hotbodies check out Chapparrall Motorsports online. They have the D-ring, Dzus and other body work fasteners.
What year is your GS? I was thinking of buying one of those about 3 yrs ago. It does look like a decent street mount. |

| Re: Race bodywork Well just for information to everyone out there, I was/am very disappointed with Motorcycle Parts by EXOTIC SPORTBIKE
I would suggest not doing business with them. I was put on hold 2 times- close to 20 minutes each time- to be told that they can't get the stuff to me in time. I was hoping to have the fairings for a 5/14 day at Thunder Hill and they don't do rush shipping nor did they really have a clue what was coming to me and how it was to be used. Morons as far as I'm concerned. I feel bad that I spent the money of the person buying the parts for me on this bunch of clowns.
So anyway, I'm now back to ordering an OEM cowl either from fleabay or the dealer, just so I can actually ride the bike on the track. I'm pretty miffed at these jokers.
Oh yeah, the GS is an '06. It is the perfect street mount.
I guess the one thing that is good about this is that it will still be street legal and I can take a spin on the street with it from time to time... Yeah right. |

| Re: Race bodywork Online the best oem places i have found that have good prices are:
RonAyers, Bike Bandit, and Service Honda. If you order from RonAyers be prepared to wait two weeks for your parts though. They are in no way fast. I live in Arizona, every time i order from Service Honda i have the parts in one week or less. |

| Re: Race bodywork Well I bit the bullet and bought it from a local dealer. They actually beat Ron Ayers by $10 and I don't have to pay shipping (tax was probably less than shipping would be).
I'm still pissed, but whatever. Now Kneedraggers is dragging saying that the order won't ship until 5/11 when I placed it this past Saturday- I know I should have followed up with them also. Man this is frustrating. |

| Re: Race bodywork BMW R1200GS. It's a big dual sport bike that is in a nutshell a continent killer- both on and off road. |

| Re: Race bodywork Beautiful bike. I rode on DL 1000 a couple of times. A friend of mine who buys a different bike every year had an 04. The dual sports don't really appeal to me right now, but I could see how that could change in the future. |

| Re: Race bodywork Well the GS is truly the perfect bike. I can rock the twisties, tour for 17 hours in a weekend, ride 100 miles in the dirt, and do all of it in the snow/rain/whatever.
It truly is the best motorcycle I've ever owned.
The only reason I keep the 954 is b/c it is truly fast on the track. |

| Re: Race bodywork After the fact now, but Hotbodies quality, fit and finish is considered average compared to other aftermarket bodywork companies. Sharkskinz is considered the best...but expensive.

| Re: Race bodywork What's frustrating is when you're a parts seller and half the people ordering want their part in two-three days... that's frustrating. But they should still work with you if you're were willing to pay for three day or faster delivery. Those delivery services cost the seller an arm and a leg. Say a UPS package costs $15 to ship "Ground", that same package can cost as much as $60 to send by "Two Day" shipping and about $40 for "Three Day". |
