Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

HI, im new,

cbr1000rr 09 HRC, picking up next week !

the lowest quote i got was £1395 fully comp, by honda insurance.
third party fire & theft was about the same, and third party only was £590.

34 years old, passed bike test 2007, zero NCB.

£1395 is alot, i am sick of getting quotes, thats the best i can get, most not insuring.

please let me know if that sounds about right, or can anyone recommend any insurance company.

Cheers
Adam

Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

Just had my insurance renewal in... £111.14 for the year, fully comprehensive with 2 years no claims bonus...

I'm a bit gutted actually, I've got an extra years no claims and it's only gone down £4 on last years figure

I'm surprised you didn't get free insurance from honda when you bought it!!.......

I use a local broker as they were 100quid cheeper on the same policy as i was quoted on line

currently pay aprox £400 on one policy for all my bikes.. , also covers me to ride any other bike well chuffed it's like having the old rider policy*

*all us older(those that remember it!) riders must morn the demise of norwich unions rider policy

I'm paying about £350 or there abouts for all three Hondas - the Hornet is insured for £4k, the VFR for £2.5k and the 954RR for £3.5K if I can remember correctly and like you I can ride anyone elses motorcycles 3rd Party.

The Hornet and the 954RR are both alarmed, I have a Oxford Ground Anchor (surprisingly they don't ask you if it is fitted), Protected No Claims and they are parked in a locked garage overnight.

Another thing that plays a big part is your mileage per year. Although you maybe restricted to say 5000 miles, if someone else rides your motorcycle you have no control over the mileage wink wink nudge nudge.

Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

thanks for that arg954 !

went ahead with it, insured on other bikes aswell (3rd party)

there is a garage clause, which is, if the bike's not in my garage, and is stolen within 500metres of my garage, then the excess will double. weird !

anyway i'm over the insurance thing now...................

I'M WAITING FOR DELIVERY OF MY BIKE TODAY !
i feel like a kid again ! i'm constantly looking out the window for it, it should be here any time now !

Adam Khan

ps. i have never taken delivery of a new bike before, anything i should know about, things to check, ask etc.

It seems like you got an awesome deal...at least to me. Geico has me paying a little over $1000 for limited liability on CBr 900. I think I should check out State Farm.

Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

Corrction on last post. I'm actually paying $550 a year. But I'm a new ride; only been riding for only 6 months so I figure that has a lot to do with my pricing and the fact that I'm 29.

$1,340.00 per annum for comprehensive insurance. That's in Sydney, Australia, with 65% no claims bonus, less than 8000 kms travelled per annum, and is a total fu*K#n rip off.
But hey, what do you do? Oh, and I've shopped around too. Big time.

Just had my 57 repsol blade nicked so had to claim for theft, had to pay an additional £110 to cover a new 09 repsol blade, making a total of £430 with excess of £350. 7 YEARS NO CLAIMS, 39 yrs old.

bargain on a £10k bike I'd ay given what the unlucky guys in the USA are having to pay!!

Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

I live in South Africa and ride a 2005 FireBlade.

I pay about R430 a month, or R5160 a year which is about $645 a year (US)! Not bad I think. But I've had the bike new since 2006 Jan and it halved since I first insured it! I've also never claimed once and the nice thing about my insurance is that I'm covered up to B group at track days!

Re: How much do you pay each year for motorcycle insurance?

Holy. Some of the rates I'm seeing on here are good. I have a 95 Honda CBR900RR and my insurance is $1300 for full coverage and like $1000 for basic insurance. That is Canadian of course, since I'm in Ontario.
I have a clean driving record. No speeding tickets at all.
When I first got a quote it was $900 a year. Then when I bought the bike and went to get the insurance I told them, the bike was a 95 and not a 94. I expected a little more a year, like say $100. That brokerage told me it'd be a 300% surcharge since the bike was not 94 and older. My rate was going to be over $3,000. I almost thought I was going to have to turn around and sell the bike.
