rust removal

anyone recommend a spray on rust removal product for exhaust headers?

I've heard of evapo-rust working really well but it would cost a ton to get enough to dip the entire header into for 10 minutes

Re: rust removal

Try a product called Ospho - will convert the rust to iron phospate (black) if you leave it on or will just eat off the rust if you brush it off after letting it work for a while. The iron phosphate coating is quite durable and will resist further rusting. Also work well on any rusty body parts as a prep before primer. Sand the rust smooth but do not remove to bright metal as the Ospho needs something to convert. It will not protect bright metal.

Re: rust removal

Por15.....they have rust removers and high heat paint for headers that will resist rust. I have used the regular Por15 and the stuff works.....

Re: rust removal

to find ospho, go to a marine supply store, it is a green liquid in a clear container, also, if the rust is not that bad (surface rust), Flitz is a great product to use; also found at the same store.
