| Went Ridding today.... So I went on a long ride through the Colorado mountains today. All around aspen area...345miles to be exact. I had along with me a Kawasaki 650, a 1050 speed triple triumph and 2 R6's as well as my 954rr. And both the riders of the R6's and the triumph have been riding much longer than I have. And during our awesome ride they all had a very hard time keeping up with me going up the mountains.
There was a thread on here that I have seen that states 600's could keep up with the big liter bikes. I had to put it to the test today and YES they all laGGed behind me. Meaning Bigger is always better
But I had a great time ridding and if anyone is in the aspen area I know some good roads with little traffic, so hit me up.

Seems to be getting deep in here. That smell is oh so familiar too.

| Re: Went Ridding today.... I would say its 99% up to the driver....
then again the 954 is not exactly a litre bike, more like an overgrown 600....
So yes, that 1% was the 954 being a better bike overall.... |

| Re: Went Ridding today.... who says the 600's can keep up with the liter bikes, that will depend on the rider mostly. I was out Friday night with my 929 and my friend on an 06 636, no way he flys by me when we do a roll on, i hit 145 and he was in my rear view mirror...have not riden the 954,but it should be faster and just as agile as the 929, i actually want one in the same color scheme as my 929.These 929/954 series honda's are no slouches in my book...there's a brand new 07 Ninja 600RR sitting in my garage (girlfriend's nieces bike) , i could use it when ever i want, but i choose taking my 929 because it's a mucher funner bike to ride...that Ninja 6 feels like i'm riding a sewing machine,it's handles well but i don't like the power delivery of these new bikes that rev to 16k ...but that's just me ! |

This topic should be given an official id number like "topic #5" or something as it comes up SO often. |

| Re: Went Ridding today.... I have done quite a bit of riding with smaller bikes, my roommate has an 02 600F4i and i have an 03 954RR, he weighs somewhere between 70 and 100 lbs less than me and my bike is still faster than his. mine is truly stock while he has after market pipe and power commander. another friend of mine has an 04 gsxr 1K, he weighs even more than i do and he annihilates me hands down, so it has a lot to do with engine size. |

| Re: Went Ridding today.... and btw, a 954 is no overgrown 600, it is a power horse that honda should have skipped and went straight to the 1K, dont get me wrong i love my bike, but my next is going to be a 1K honda sport bike, unless they decide to step up and make something bigger. |

| Re: Went Ridding today.... All other things being equal, on a twisty tight road, unless your liter bike is at WOT (wide open throttle) which isn't too likely, a 600 sportbike will always be faster in corners. Hate to say it guys, but it's the old laws of physics. Less overall mass and more importantly, less rotating mass makes the 600 easier and more capable of higher mid corner speeds. Yeh, I hate it too, but generally riders aren't equal so it depends more on who is more skilled.
All you have to do is jump on a F4i or a 600RR after getting off your 1000RR and you'll see for yourself. Still wouldn't want one though because I hate no bottom end and always having to spin it to the moon.

| Re: Went Ridding today.... that being said, i still would rather have my 954 over my roommates f4i any day, not to mention there isnt a race track between my job and my apt so i think i still got him beat. |

| Re: Went Ridding today.... after getting my first taste the track this summer I want a 600RR so bad. I've only ridden my 929 on the track and its a boatload of fun but I figure the 600 would also.
I was at Grattan and I was watching the A group guys go down the straight. TornadoBait on his 600RR basically stopped accelerating halfway down, looked behind him at JetBdude on his 1000RR and just punched it when they were side by side. I still have no freaking clue how he got that 600 to stay with the 1000 after slowing and losing his drive while the 1000 was at the throttle stop the whole time.

Did you notice how many gears the 600 had to change to the end of the straight, while the 1000 just accelerated through the one...
Just a guess, maybe I'm all wrong that 600 was pumping laughing gas for the whole time... |
