| engine upgrades for the '06 1000RR I have a 2006 1000RR that I baught in Cali.
I know there are emission controlls on this bike. I have upgraded the stock exhaust to a Jardine duel outlet carbon slip on and added a power commander. I have a quick acceleration sprocket setup coming in as well, and I am planning on getting some velocity stacks.
I am just trying to find out what I need to do to get rid of the emissions controlls, and I also want to upgrade my cams. Can anyone help me out on what type of velocity stacks, and cams I should get??
thanks for the help |

| Re: engine upgrades for the '06 1000RR If it is an 06 you won't need to replace the velocity stacks as those of us that have 04 05 RR's do. An A Tech intake would make it breathe more. I used Erion cams which are very good for up to a 9 HP boost. After that it is pistons and porting and skimming the head which unleashes real power. I used JE pistons and did the rest and so have 178 BHP and 84 torque and can still ride it on the street but it is an awesome track beast. |

Ring Brad, he will take care of you. This mod gave me 5 hp at 5 secs on the acceleration curve (dyno), but did not change the overall output. Result is quicker acceleration! |

| Re: engine upgrades for the '06 1000RR Thanks for the help. I am trying to get as much horsepower and torque out of my bike as possible without puting on a turbo or nitrus. I am at 150 right now after the mods I already installed. So any advice is greatly appreciated. thanks |

I was 156rwhp stock..after just flapper, full exhaust and pc3 I was almost 170rwhp.. I guess though different dyno's and other conditions yield different results... What mods do you have? Got to have something to do with emissions since you bought the bike in cali |

Unfortunately I didn't get a stock run but with DNA airfilters (aftermarket are a must) and full Yoshi RS5 system I sat at 158 bhp. Then pistons cams and conservative skim took me to 178. A Tech intake and 06 velocity stacks gave me earlier 5 hp at 6 secs. Front sprocket 15 rear 42. Ohlins rear shock and fork springs and Traxxion valving help on the corners. |

| Re: engine upgrades for the '06 1000RR Yea buying my bike in Cali gives me a lot of emissions restrictions, and the only thing I have done to fix the restrictions is put a slip on exhaust and K&N air filter. That is something that I need to find out is how to get the rest of the restrictions out. I also have the 1 down 1 up sprocket set up .
I am also putting on some Carrozzeria rims for looks and weight, and engine upgrades that copernikus suggested.
I am also looking into buying the Ohlins front and rear shock.
Copernikus what exactly does the Traxxion valving help with?? |

Traxxion Dynamics valving is what I use in my stock forks which also have Ohlins springs. The valving improves the damping and rebound qualities so improves the front end handling immensely. If you have the funds to afford an Ohlins front end then go for it but for a street bike modifying the stockers is more than adequate. I compared my 04 and a stock 06 through some hills and was suprised at the amount of improvement my bike had at handling bumps and ripples on corners. |
