Moving to Little Rock whats there to do?

Theres a good chance I'll be moving to Little Rock early next year. I'll be stationed at the Air Force Base there. Just wondering whats there to do. I really will miss the beach and offshore fishing. I'll be selling my 24' express cruiser seeing as it won't have much use there.

But I like motorsports of all kind. The closest track seems to be in Memphis which is a bit of a drive. Are there any local race tracks, drag strips that I don't know of?
Just wondering what to expect.

Re: Moving to Little Rock whats there to do?

Arkansas has some of the best riding roads in this part of the country, there is also scenic Tahlimena drive in southern oklahoma easily accessible from Little rock. Head north out of little rock for Mt. Home or Eureka Springs and there are tons of excellent twisty roads to ride with little traffic.

Hallet motor circuit is about 4.5 hours away motorcylce lapping days are $100 and they do several of them a year when they don't have sports car events happening there.

Of course memphis is about 2 hours away and has Beal street, blues and BBQ.

Most of us from northeastern Oklahoma head for the Arkansas border to get our ride on.

I've been stationed in LR for about two months now. They aren't feeding you lines when they say there are great twisties to the north. I am sure you will find plenty of roads to fill the time you used to spend on that boat.

341 push mountain road is one of my favorites on the way up to Mt. Home. We rode it on a weekend and saw one car going up and only 2 going down the next day.

123 from Pelsor to Hasty is heaven on earth for tight and twisties, word of caution when running from south to north the northern end of 123 will be 17% grade downhill switchbacks take it easy or you will wreck. Usually we ride that road north to south.

Well that sounds good. Not too many twisty roads in the last two places I lived. Corpus Christi and Enid, OK. The bike has some serious wear on the tires down the middle.

Also found an ORV park thats pretty close by in Hot Springs, AR. Probably check that out in my truck maybe I'll get back into dirt biking,

Not that far to Barber Motorsports Park and Talladega Grand Prix. North Pirate Kansas is supposed to have good riding as is lower Missouri. Oh and you can drive over and wiz on the Bill Jefferson Clinton Library

Re: Moving to Little Rock whats there to do?

Lower Missourri is pretty good riding 125 from bull shoals to 10 or so miles north of 160 is absolutely awesome. !60 is really fun but make damn sure you loop wide arouind Branson it sucks. 90 from Washburn to Noel is a good road as well. The problem is you run into tons more traffic in MO. for some reason, plus the road surfaces just aren't as nice as AR.

Say what you want personally I hated the guy but being a State with a recent politician in the white house does wonders for your roads programs. A friend of mine who is an engineer spoke to some of the civil engineers who design and repair roads in AR, they are using higher grade asphalt than normal for road surfaces and they do deeper roadbeds than Oklahoma.
