| The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k What is your opinion? Not sure what I think about it.. 300 mpg sounds good..
"Specs may change between now and autumn 2008, but the current numbers look like this: 300 mpg, a price tag below $30,000, and 0-60 acceleration of 11 seconds (about a second slower than the Toyota Prius gas-electric hybrid). The Aptera will come in two versions: the all-electric Typ-1e; and the series-hybrid Typ-1h, with a small onboard gasoline engine capable of recharging the battery. According to Fambro the all-electric Aptera is expected to go roughly 120 miles on a full charge, while the series hybrid will travel 600 miles on a full battery and a full tank of gas — the equivalent of 300 mpg." |

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k One day auto engineers will create an electric hybrid that doesnt look like a prop from a sci-fi movie... |

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k Handling might be fun in strong cross winds with that tail section, could bring a whole new meaning to rear wheel steering . |

Dont know about the top speed though, probably slower than a normal human walking.

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k 0-60 in 11 sec. AWESOME. That's worse than the Ford Aspire I drove back in high school.
In all honesty I think it looks terrible but it takes stuff like this to bring about innovation. If they can make this one work at 300mpg then they could make a more "normal" looking one that gets 100mpg. Plenty of "concept" vehicles over the years have been a little odd looking but they bring about necessary change.

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k Here's the one I've got my eye on. 120mph, 100mpg, 0-60 in 5 seconds. Under $25k and leans up to 45 degrees like a bike. check out the videos. Fly the Road

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k OK, so say you are cruising down the highway in your "wingless (powerless) bird" and swoosh a semi goes by you. YOu A: get thrown into a whiffle ball spin and fly off the road into a tree. B: get sucked behind it into the following car or C: nothing because the semi never saw you and ran right over you without even slowing down. |

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k I showed the picture to the young lad who's nine expecting a comment like "cool thats looks fun" instead I got "dont think I'm getting in that , it looks stupid keep the Blade dad". I think thats the question we should be asking who would get one of these things instead of their bike or normal car ? |

| Re: The 'Wingless Bird' 300mpg for under 30k It wouldn't be for everyone and the early design does look stupid BUT at 300+ miles on 4 gallons of gas... I would cruise it. As long as it looks something like the latest illustration...and it would cost about the same as a Prius. |
