Could probably sell the engine for enough to cover the cost of the truck.

Only if you bought the bike for cash. If you financed it, and don't have full coverage, you are in breach of your contract...........You could wind up without a bike and still owing for it.

Not true, the dealers around here let you buy these on the "Honda Card" to specifically avoid having to pay insurance, legally.Yes if the bike get's stolen, you obviously are still owing the $$ though..This is another way to boost sales i guess, your basically buying the bike on a credit card....probably not the best way to do it on a new bike, but ALOT of people do this

And don't be crying if it does get stolen and you are out 12k because you didn't have insurance.

If you can't afford the things that need to go along with having the bike then you can't afford the bike. People like this are why all of the rest of us keep seeing insurance rates go up because of all the uninsured motorist claims..
Once again, I agree with Getsome....

Re: SECURITY?????

I agree with getting insurance, lojack, and anything else. You have to protect yourself. Also not metioned is the necessity for gap insurance if you buy a bike brand new with a small down payment. Depreciation is a bitch, and it hit me when my 929 was stolen.

However I also would like to see a far better police response (hopefully somewhat as good as their ticketing response...), and far stiffer penalties for motorcycle and car theives. I would be fine with the death penalty, personally. However anything is better than the slap on the wrist they get now.
