Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

Well, if the bike was in great condition, no dings scratches etc, then you MAY have been able to get five. A dealer could probly get six but they have the time to wait around. If it was more in the condition you would expect for an 01, a few LITTLE nicks, a worn spot etc, then 4 is a fine catch. Up here in the desert, bikes sell for about 1000 more than what they are worth on average unless im trying to sell it lol. Then it goes for less than it was worth . Im gonna put my "Hondas never lose value in my eyes" bias away for now and just say good job! I think you did well although, at least where I live, an erion is RARE and would have gone for a bit more.

Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

I'm gonna agree with Desert Blade. Around here in Sac a 929 will go for between 3500-5000 depending on the condition and the mods on it. An Erion 929, if it's a true Erion instead of one with just the plastics on it, should have a motor that's bored out to close to a 954 if I remember correctly, and I'd think that would go for more. But then again, that's all great if you're willing to wait. Getting it sold quick for 4 grand? Not bad at all. Just think of it as having four grand in your pocket NOW rather than maybe 5 grand who knows when.

Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

The "real" Erion is the same as the other 929's except for the plastics and the black frame. There are no mechanical differences between the models.

Umm...then why are there Erion 929s out there that are bored out to 954? I know they were doing that for a while. Is this a difference between say an Erion 929 released by Honda (race-replica style) vs. Erion 929 turned out by Erion Racing itself? I bring this up because I'm 100% sure that I've seen Erion 929 bikes that were bored out to 954....granted, they also had an Erion pipe and a Power Commander though. Anyway, that's kinda what I meant when I said a "real" Erion bike.

Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

Honda offered the Erion version of the CBR929RR in 2001 to commemorate Kurtis Roberts winning the AMA Formula Extreme title in 1999 and 2001. The only difference between the red/black and yellow/black model 929's sold that year was the Erion scheme plastics and black framework. The bike did not have any performance work done to it and it didn't even come with an Erion exhaust.

Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

Okay, so I really am thinking of a bike worked over by Erion Racing. They're located here in California too...not sure what they do as far as bikes go nowadays, other than exhaust systems...

wow, that's actually not a bad price, if it's really clean.

Re: JUST SOLD MY ERION

Supply & Demand my friend. Demand is obviously kinda low right now. Supply unfortunately lumps the 929 in the same category as all the other liter bikes which only makes it valuable to people who know bikes. That Erion shoulda easily seen $5000 or at least the upper 4's a couple months from now. If you had to get rid of it in a hurry tho, I guess you did alright. Plus the motor swap probably didn't help the situation.

The thing I find funny is how Gixxer 600's seem to hold their value. People pay $5k+ for 2000-2004's all the time.... and it's a damn run-of-the-mill 600! I don't get it. The bigger bikes never seem to hold their values too well down the road. It's almost like people are afraid of the power or wanna buy new. I bet an F4i from the same year would sell for more than you sold that Erion. I hope if I ever have to sell mine I get a lot more than $4k outta it. Damn shame.
