| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? thats a tough one and sounds like a lot of work. this site might not be the best place to ask since its more biased towards Hondas. if you can find a gsxr forum I bet there'd be someone over that can help.

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? i've heard that you can put the 1000 engine of the same year into your bike but only 3 of four engine mounts will line up. So i've heard, if i was to put a bigger engine then stick to the same year ( body style ) to get the best chance of fitting. |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? Interesting how the 600 to 1000 kit involves "minor modification" but on the 750 to 1000 kit they point out "NO cutting or welding"...
Who wants to take an angle grinder to their frame??? |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? from my experiences putting a engine that isnt suposed to fit usually ends up being more trouble then fun. had a jeep wrangler i put a chevy 350 with chevy transfer case/transmission and also put international scout front/rear ends in to handle the power. it was always something. drive shafts breaking etc. also put a 454 with 600 hp on motor in a chevy luv truck (70's equivalent to the s-10) ran it down the 1/4 once and came back with a twisted frame. so unless you can fix it yourself i would just buy a new bike. |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? Too much trouble, and will cost more to do it than the bike is worth probably. If you want a 1000, go get one. |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? I used to have fun shoehorning 350 engines into compact cars. Things like suspension A-arms, quarter panels, doors, engine and transmission mounts, and things had a nasty habit of separating from the frame. Every week it was something. The grand finale of it all happening at once was when a c-clip worked itself loose in the rear axle, letting the differential pin sliding out, braking the rear axle case, bent the driveshaft, broke the transmission bellhousing, engine broke away from the engine mounts, put the distributor through the hood, bent the exhaust, and the rear wheels on the axle started siding outwards like in the cartoons. Took me a week to put that back together on a high school budget.
Motorcycles would be even more fun than cars. |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? If you mean cheaper insurance because it's a 600 wouldn't your insurance company choose not to pay out when they run the engine number and discover the 1000cc engine?
I know of at least two drag bikes running Hayabusa engines in GSXR600 frames.
Anything is possible if you have the skill or the money to pay somebody else with the skill to do it.

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? It depends if they do that big of an investigation. Most times they are just going to look at the frame numbers.I personally wouldn't do it.I'm so worried about my rates going up anyway. |

| Re: can i swap my engine with a bigger one? I would think it a matter of course that the insurance company would check such things before paying out.
I'd guess an un-disclosed turbo would give them a "get out" clause as well?
I personally don't believe in insurance and haven't insured a vehicle since 2000 and then only because it was a requirement of the hire purchase agreement.
