I Always smell like gas.....oline.. :-P

Does anybody here smell like gas fumes every time they ride? its a huge pain in the ass when you're going to a dinner,or somewhere formal and you smell like a prick, any ideas on why?

The only thing i could think of is maybe the fumes escape the keyhole on the gas cap and blow towards me when i ride?

Because my 03 GSXR had a twist off cap and i don' recall ever smelling like gas,any input would be greatly appriciated!!!

Err no I think it's just you lol Can't say I ever noticed or had that happen to me , but I'm sure if it ever did someone in the office would have told me by now.
I do have a problem of coming home after doing the night shift smelling of aviation fuel but thats to be expected when your the bloke standing on the runway waving your arms about directing aircraft on and off stand all night .

It could be, I doubt this would work that great but take the 3 bolts out of the twist off cap, and then take it off and put it back on again.

I smell like the road also, but it's not from my bike, it's from the exhaust of all the cars around me, especially when I stop at a redlight, and there is always that damn diesel truck in front, blowing smoke like crazy. I think what you are smelling, is just you being part of the city's roadways...but who knows, maybe it is your gas cap.

Check the breather hoses that vent your gastank. You should not smell like gas, and this is potentially a dangerous issue. Check that the gas tank vent hoses are connected to the underside of the tank, then follow the hose routing and make sure they lead to a safe place. Also give a thorough inspection of the fuel hoses, making sure that all connections are tight. Good luck.

Nope, never happened to me. Are you sure it is a gasoline smell and not exhaust smell? Does your bike run clean without unburned gas exit through your exhaust?

be careful the next time you light up a cigarette. seems to be a problem on your bike. is it heavy on gas? check that there is no gas leakingand blowing onto you. very dangerous.

IMO i like the smell of gas and the smell i have on me after riding - it reminds me of the fun i had on it earlier that day/week etc.

I get a smell on my clothes after riding, but its usually a mix of everything put together

Re: I Always smell like gas.....oline.. :-P

my back always smells like exhaust when if i do highway riding because of the air pocket created and the undertail exhaust. also dont put your helmet on your tank for periods of time ever. a small amount of fumes escape the tank on every bike and they will actually eat away at the protective shell of the helmet causeing it to be less effective in the even you go down
