| Pre-senile dementia? Or Mid-life crisis? OK.. ..So this Year I Hit the big four-OH, and as I keep seeing the age fairy hanging round (I’m sure she’s been sneakily chiselling wrinkles and stapling on grey hair when I not looking!) and have to keep going out to avoid the middle age spread delivery. Felt I should prepare and decide what next?? My first thought was to slip happily into pre-senile dementia.. The idea of waving my stick at young whippersnappers (anyone younger than me! (be it 40 years or 4 minutes) and mutter how “we never behaved like that in my day!”) has appealed to me for a long time and I’m seriously looking forward to the days when I can do it.. Although I don’t currently find cardigans appealing and nobody’s told me where you buy those special old man trousers (the ones that do up just bellow the nipples) and the thought of smelling like wee, being mildly confused all the time and getting lost in cupboards all have there merits.. .. I don’t think they're for me (yet!) So.. Mid-life crisis it is then!! And now I have a problem.. Having always had bikes, I cant just go out and buy one as surely it wouldn’t qualify as part of the midlife crisis. An 18 year old girlfriend is appealing but a severely battered body, missing body parts, and a long stay in hospital (The results of suggesting to current GF I trade her in for newer model) convinced me otherwise! A Ferrari would be nice, but I’m not ready to drive that slowly (besides.. I can’t afford one). Growing my hair, having a tattoo and dressing like aged rockstar are ALL out of the question (That’s more like a description of the last 25 years).. Oh well…. ….ANOTHER BIKE IT IS! But What Bike? A Harley’s out of the question (do I really need to comment) any new sports bike has more than enough in the power department (Hell, my blade has more than I need, as I only ride on the street, I have spare HP hanging around, looking shifty an mugging old ladies) All of them handle better than I can do justice to (it pains me to admit it. But I give up long before my tyres even consider it..) The last time I ground my pegs day-glo & lycra were still fashionable. Don’t get me wrong.. I no Slouch (just don’t fancy re-living the heady days of my youth which seem to involve an unusual amount of hedges, ditches and wrong end of cars!!) BUT.. everything in the shop has something wrong with it (too pointy, not pointy enough, horrible exhaust, doesn’t go with my helmet!!.. You name it.. The list is endless). Nothing has made me wanna sell a kidney to finance its purchase! The 2007 repsol came close (did a little sex wee when I first saw it!!) but it has the same underlying problem as most bikes.. Now, this may just be me? Or maybe the early signs of afore mentioned dementia! (certainly the age fairy has been known to tamper with grey matter) but I don’t want the same bike as someone else! (especially if there’s is in better condition than mine!!) then looking through a old magazine, I stumbled on the answer.. An idea from my past, long dormant and forgotten (slightly dusty, filed under.. ..One day).. A penis extension! (no.. not that one) Thai bride (nope) Spondon framed streetfighter.. (Oh yes… That’s the one!!) Now I’m planning to sell my dear old silver-haired grannies artificial hip (after I dig her up) on Ebay to finance it.. The question is what essential BLING should I add/consider?? Suggestions much appreciated (even if ignored) Hears my planned starting point.. Minus the 916 look tail and I’m thinking with Banana Swing arm rather than singlesider!! |

Just ignored my sixtieth, too busy planning a Nurburgring session and a grand tour de France. Though I must admit, for my 40th mid life crisis I didnt do the Thai bride bit, I bought a bar in Bangkok and had thirty of them 'working' for me..... Ahh, happy days.
Do whatever makes you feel good, and then keep on doing it.
Cheers |

Guess Sideshow won't be buying a bar over here then.
Just one point, Sideshow. You're never going to get a six month visa and the days of the month by one month extensions are over. |

uhm... does Loopy = Sideshow's real GF?
If so, my condolences Mr. Bob.
Although I cant say that I feel your pain. The UK has an awesome selection of bikes, in all ranges of CC's and all types of colour schemes. Cant really see how you're having difficulty finding a bike. I'd be happy with a white CBR. And if you're going through a mid-life crisis wtf do they call what I've been going through for the last 10 years?
If you're gonna bling out the bike in the pic, you'll definitely need a 300 rear tire (or whatever the biggest size is these days) on a SSSA.
Oh and throw a Givi top bag on there just to be different.

Maybe something outrageous like this for your mid life crisis. Honda CBX - Spondon Frame Streetfighter - The Kneeslider CycleForums - Spondon Framed CBX
Or convince loopy she wants a thai bride for christmas too, no reason to trade a GF in if she's into asian as well... |

| Re: Pre-senile dementia? Or Mid-life crisis? Why, old chap!! come on down here to the mother city, Cape town. I bet 90% of all foreigners here are either poms or fritz's. and most of them i see are well into their 40's. with your pound worth 16 times more than our rand, you might think you died and went to heaven. they usually end up staying and buying all the prime real estate in places like Camps Bay.Oh, the girls are a treat, just be careful tho', ask Sir Alex. |
