| How to load maps to powercommander newbe Ok I'm really excited. I just bought a full two brothers exhaust for my 929 and a powercommander.
I have the powercommander III usb (for the 954 but everyone says it will work fine on my 929). I have no idea on how to use it. I looked up the installation on powercommander.com and it seems really easy (no problems here). I also downloaded maps to my laptops harddrive.
Is there some kind of software, other than the actual maps, that needs to be downloaded into my laptop?
How do I put a map from my laptop to the powercommander? I know I need to bring the computer to my bike and have the ignition turned on, but I'm lost from that point forward.
Oh and I don't have the 9volt back up setup. Can I buy that at a computer store or does it have to be from powercommander.com?
Thanks guys. |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe It's been awhile, but you need the dynojet software that enables you to transfer maps from your computer to the PCIII. You can get that from the dynojet site. I don't think you need the 9V battery for the 929, that's for bikes who don't stay powered when the key is left on, I think. I needed it for my gix, but I don't remember needing it for the 929.
Now, the PCIII from the 954 will work, but you won't be able to directly download the maps, you'll have to cut and paste them. They aren't 100% compatible. Not too much help, I know, but it's been quite awhile!
Someone else should chime it. It's pretty straighforward from what I recall. |

How can I load a 929 map into the 954 powercommander? |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe I'm not sure, I think you have to cut and paste somehow. The 929 maps cannot be directly downloaded into a 954 PCIII, unfortunately. |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe Thanks hondagal. I wonder how I do that? Maybe I can open a 954 map and then cut and paste the info from my 929 map into the 954 one. |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe Ok I figured it out. I guess you just open the powercommander software with a 954 map and open another powercommander software in another window with the map you want for the 929. Then you just highlight everything in the 929 window (all the numbers) and do a control c for copy then go to the 954 window and highlight the same area and do a control v (for paste). Then just load the 954 (with 929 info) profile to the 954 powercommander.
Wow. What a difference. It's like riding an different bike. No more dips and surges. The 3000rpm dip and later surge really was bad when trying to start smoothly (fully noticed when it wasn't there anymore). I am so impressed with the powercommander. The mid and top seem more powerful too. Smooth AND powerful. What more could you ask for? |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe Cool, good job, glad you figured it out. Do you just have a generic map made for your type of exhaust? If you think it runs good now (and the map you have is probably fairly close), you should take it to an approved dynojet tuning center and have them do a custom map. It costs around $300, but then your bike is running at the correct air:fuel ratio throughout the entire powerband. I forget, what exhaust do you have?
..and I like pie! |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe I have the two brothers full exhaust setup. I downloaded a map from thier website.
I'd love to get it custom tuned with a dyno. Didn't you have that done Honda Gal? What were your HP and torque numbers again and more importantly what were your numbers before and after the true custom map? I seem to remember you saying you had something crazy like 146HP. I assumed you had a 954 b/c of the high number (2008 1000rr's are getting around 152 rwhp).
Any opinions on the flapper mod? |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe Yeah, my 929 has the hp of a 954, my friend had hers done the same day, so that's how I know. I don't know what it was stock, but with a full Arata and generic map, I had 138 hp, custom brought it to 146. The torque improved, too, but I forget the number. More importantly, the curve is nice and smooth.
I didn't do the flapper mod, but in hindsight, I should have. I can't do it now, because I'd need it remapped. Oh well. |

| Re: How to load maps to powercommander newbe A remap would probably be the same cost as having it done originally, I'm thinking they'd basically need to start from scratch again if I changed something that would cause a change to the map. Depends, if I went back to the same place, maybe they'd give me a break. No matter, I'm not doing the flapper at this point, as it doesn't give any increase in hp anyway. |
