RRX replacement

I've had a bit of a windfall, roughly £2K ($4K). I know I can get about £1K for my RRX, with a bit of slack in my savings I can push £4K in total.

This puts me into 2000-2003 'blade territory.
All I want to know is, is it worth £3K to 'upgrade, or is the difference insignificant? I have no intention, desire or need to do trackdays, ridiculous waste of money and machine. I do, however, require my machine to tour 2500+ miles within six days, be as capable of dismissing motorways as it is of dealing with Alpine roads, hualing a fully loaded Givi and tankbag without becoming uncontrollable. It must also be consumately reliable, easily maintained for very little money and have a quantifiable increase in either performance and / or handling.

To say I am happy with the RRX is an understatement, she still goes as well as ever, but, time moves on, as does the numbers on the odo, I'll have to change her sometime and at my age, the chance of spare money coming along gets rarer.
Anyone out there who can make the comparison?

Cheers
