| Backpack Question ..... Who is using backpacks on their rides?
Mine is getting very old and I am looking to purchase a new one. I need to fit at least two 1/2 Gallon Gatorade bottles into the pack.
Please make suggestions. I researched on the web but could need more help about durability and quality.
TIA!! |

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I've hammered my Kelty on a lot of backpacking trips, backcountry ski trips, and as a daily use backpack carrying school books and a laptop. I'd highly reccomend any bag they make.

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I always ride with a backpack. the best I like is my od.camp skate bag it have enough storage for mybooks 2 litres water bottles a hydro pocket and cell phone wrap and some zippered inside storage and shoes/skate carrier outside and a bangee net to carry a skate helmet and secure verycomfortable chest and waist belts so it's not going anywhere while u riding also it's just sized right looks smaller than most backpacks but boy it's one of the very versatile packs out there. oh did I mention it had internal storage for a waterproof cover incase it rained ? |

| Re: Backpack Question ..... Get a tail bag. Back packs will tire you much faster on a long ride and if you crash I would think a gatorade in the middle of the back would be a very bad thing.

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I bought the Ogio No Drag Backpack and absolutely love it!. It will hold about what want, but not much more. The nice thing is I actually forget I am wearing it because it really lives up to its name. NO DRAG!

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I've had my Alpinestars backpack for 6 years, and I take it everywhere. It even has a helmet holder, when you're off the bike, plenty of expandable storage pockets, and holds either a 32oz Gatorade, or 2 16-24oz waters in EACH side pocket. They are collapseable/expandable, and are very durably made.
We take the thing to Laguna Seca every year and haul all our water, sunscreen, magazines, programs, cameras, etc around the track all weekend, then carry it onto the plane and stuff it under the forward seat for the flight back home. Or my old one is more similar to this: MOTORCYCLE ACCESSORIES - BIKEBIZ |

| Re: Backpack Question ..... That is exactly the one I have. IT too has a Helmet hammock as well as an I-Pod pocket and a hydration pouch inside. I have ridden with a 1.5 liter hydration bladder inside and the siphon hose run through the straps and it is great. Does not get in the way at all. You can even put your laptop in the specially made sleeve inside for quick changes to your PCIII USB Maps!

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I also have the Ogio and can attest to it's greatness. Plus, with all the zippers against your back, there is no worry of the wind opening them up and scattering your stuff across the highway. High five Ogio. |

| Re: Backpack Question ..... I like the cortair bags they are good quality with extras you probably will use come with a waterproof bag if you get caught in the rain. Also you can get it as a tank bag or a saddle bags. They look great also honda did a article in their membership magazine. It turned my bike into a tourer recommend teh heli bars i have no pain they look stock and they are better made then the stock ones. Also if i need bigger stuff like my four piece travel rod i use a bookbag by EMS also if i go to Barnes and Nobels to read possibly study or buy a book I use that but the Cortal bags look better then wearing a bookbag unless you have no other choice if you need more size. I love the power of this bike i have road tourers the GS1200, and once i get back on my 1000 i am happy i got the 1000, those bikes feel like **** lose little shocks, not much power. I can actualy say if you get the helis and the bags you have the best of both worlds and i will just get another sport bike by honda of course and do it all over again, I just cant part with my sportbikes fun factor. |

The one thing I recommend is to put blue painters tape on your plastics before using the TriBag system so that you dont scratch your finish up. That way I dont have to hold my Helmet. I read that article too, and I am seriously thinking of puting the Heli's on my RC51. I love the handling of a sportbike, but would love to tour with it. I also bought the Sargents seat for my RC and all I can say is... Sargents Seats! IT has made my bike so comfy I absolutely loved my 300 mile a day rides in SoCal last month.

| Re: Backpack Question ..... It the best money you can spend. Imagin a life with no wrist pain. I didnt pay 350 though but i paid the dealer to put them on so they gave me a discount on the product. The next sport bike i get the first thing i am buying are Heli's. Thanks for the info on the scratching dont have the tail ones yet plan on going to Boston on my CBR and staying a few days. I live in pa right now. And without the Heli's I just wouldnt attempt it. |

| Re: Backpack Question ..... haha i have to many backpacks.
my ogio has a slot for my lapton (gray and yellow) basic pack
2 different eddie bauer packs (yellow one and blue one) basic pack
old navy messenger sling bag (gray) i highly suggest not getting a sling bag since its just 1 strap and its kinda a bitch if you have anything more than a couple books to carry.
triple 5 soul bag ive used for a good 9 years now and about on its last strap (black/gray/ orange combo). its big enough for a weekends worth of clothes, drinks for the road, everything i need to get ready to hit the clubs when i head over to my buddies places for the weekend in seattle or portland and dont want to drive my car. oh the sternum and belt straps are nice for extra stabilty and lest shifting around. |
