Where is the best place to get 520 sprocket and chain kit?

It looks like it's time. My chain is streching after about a week of riding.

Where is the least expensive place to get a 520 chain and sproket kit for my 929?

I think I'll gear it down a bit. Everyone seems to say that the -1 in front made a big difference in acceleration.

I think I'll go up in the back since I'm getting a whole setup. I've read that going smaller in front causes more strain on the chain as it has to turn more sharply at the sprocket. Any suggestions? I know 3 up in back is like 1 in front. Anyone try 2 up in the back?

Does the 929 need the speedohealer or is the speed measured at the front wheel?

I'm going to order something today or tomorrow.

Anyone know what the best 520 chain is (probably highest tensile strength) or a few good ones?

How about anodized rear sprockets. Is it true that they will last longer than steel?

I'm really having trouble finding a place that allows odering a custom kit where I can choose the sprocket sizes.

Anyone know of a place that allows for a good quality 520 conversion kit at a good price (I emailed the CAT5 guy and am awaiting a response)?

Re: Where is the best place to get 520 sprocket and chain kit?

I just buy DID ERV3 chains and JT's sprockets seperately. Currently 15/48 on the 929.
Modern aluminium sprockets that are hard annodised last for a very long time. I haven't had a steel sprocket for so many years I can't really say if they last any longer but I haven't noticed the aluminium ones wearing out very quickly even when racing. I replaced my chain and sprockets at the start of last season after around 15,000kms and they still had plenty of life in them.
Plain aluminium sprockets like we ran in the old days don't last long at all.

As far as where to go for the least expensive price, I've not compared, but I will direct you to hardracing.com. They are not sponsors of mine, but I do shop there, and as far as 929 parts and equipment, if they don't have it, or can't get it, then it doesn't exist!!! I think everything that they advertise on their site, they actually have it in stock!!! Their prices are competitive also, so good luck......Peace.

Re: Where is the best place to get 520 sprocket and chain kit?

hmmm maybe im the only one that shops on ebay and craigslist, i got my vortech kit (520 chain and sprocket(s) for $90 shipped. Ive been to kneedraggers, denniskirks, parts411 and to my local shops cant beat eBay.

GL bro...

Plus i just looked and I saw RK, DiD, Vortech and Regina all kits for about 120. if it comes down to it piece it out, its not that hard, send the seller a question or do some quick research off a site and order by part numbers. I got bills therefore I try to be as efficient as possible

There are many types of chains that each one of those manufacturers make. And E-bay is a crap shoot at best. Good luck.

e-bay is a crap shoot if you don't know how to do your homework. There are plenty of reputable dealers who use e-bay and if you research their seller's feedback thoroughly you can identify them.

That being said, if you don't know what to look for, you're probably going to get burned.
