Congrats on your bike man,i'm 21 and i have a 929 (forth bike) you have been riding WAY longer then me but i have 3 years road experience,i couldn't put it in better terms then what these guys said. But to add to it..
-(Aside From) Expect the unexpected
-Just because a driver makes eye contact, doesn't mean hes going to let you yield/turn/change langes/let you pass, etc
-(Honestly) you really have to ride like everybody is trying to kill you
-if you DO go fast, try not to do it near cars or anywhere busy
-remember if you're behind a big vehicle and you can't see there mirrors, they can't see you...this really only implies to vehicles with no back windows..like big vans or semis BUT GOOD TO KNOW!
-On interstate..it never fails..somebody will always try to race you..TRY not to give in...its actually better to shake your head at them then they feel like crap lol
-Most or all states allow you to ride in the HOV lane on the interstate, its best to ride in that lane OR the far right, you're kind of screwed in any other lane
This is just from experience..i hope i didn't miss anything?
oh and, ladies will love you no matter how you look! |

as far as people giving you problems you should be fine, but alot of people you pass they pretty much always say "yo dawg do a wheelie!" ..thats just the biggest annoyance.. lol,do you drill in Charlston SC? |

looks pretty badass actually,i would say use that, lock your steering, and get a tarp but keep in mind people can still lift your bike up and throw it in a truck.

I guess you think the person driving the SEMI was trying to hurt you, or run over you. That's real intelligent.....Not really. Did you ever think that maybe YOU were in that persons blind spot? I doubt it, we never do, it's all about you, and everyone is out to get YOU! Now I don't mean YOU specifically, but YOU will be used for every motorcyclist that doesn't take responsibility for THEIR actions. What did you do to help create the situation of almost getting hit? I've never understood what it is that would make people want to ride next to a big truck. You ever seen one of these things blow a tire? I wonder what kind of lawsuit that person or his company or both would be subjected to in the event a tire would've blown and the tire carcass collected you and your bike. Not a pretty site!!! Think about it. I'm not coming down on you, or calling you out, by no means, I own five Semi's and while your out enjoying your ride, these type of people are out trying to feed their families, not end your life or make your day worse. They just want to get to where they have to go as fast as they can, so they can do it all over again..........Sorry for getting off topic, sue me...........I'm sure it's coming...

Yeah i helped create the situation by riding in the same lane for about 10 minutes,i wasn't in his blind spot and slowing down wasn't an option because i was being tail gated and i had a car to the right of me as well.
and trying to feed their families or not doesn't give them any right to drive like sh*t,im sure every bad driver is on their way to work and back to try and feed their families as well and not trying to kill people on motorcycles so whats the difference? |

I wasn't there and in your initial STORY you didn't say anything about being tailgated!!!! So let me get this straight, you can't slow down because your being tailgated???? Are you actually gonna stand by that statement,'cause you sound as if the person in the car was driving his car as well as your bike. He's behind you and controlling the speed you drive, go figure. How do you know you wasn't in his blind spot?? I'm just curious, 'cause you seem to be the best driver in America, when the blind spot continues to change as traffic conditions change. Like I said I wasn't there and I'm not gonna make this more than what it is, I'll just give you some helpful advice. If you don't want to be run over by a big truck, accident or not, STAY AWAY FROM BIG TRUCKS, I'm sure your 929 or whatever you ride will go faster than the big truck. Take it for what it's worth or don't. Good luck to you guy, let us know how it works out for you........Peace. |

That depends on what your primary use for the truck is going to be. I wouldn't knowingly buy a POS, due to the fact that no mattter what the use is your gonna always have to put money in it to get what you want out of it. That's just my opinion. I didn't mean to come off as upset, but that person just sounds idiotic with his reasoning. First he makes excuses for being tailgated, but if you read some of his other posts, he basically gives a class on what he does when he's tailgated and it's the exact opposite of what he's saying here. It's dead to me, and I by no means am trying to call him out. He's young and got a lot to learn. Good luck to you in in your search for a vehicle...........Peace.
P.S. In reference to the person I'm talking about; HE is used to identify the user that calls himself FTP929..... So theres no confusion....Thanks. |

Yes,i gave a "class" on what i do when being tailgated but if it doesn't work 100 % because the car driver is an idiot wtf am i to do genius?
You keep saying "Uhhh don't drive near big trucks" where do you suggest i move to when i have a car next to me,behind me,and the truck just switched lanes into the lane next to me and is drifting into mine? hmm gee! i guess the only way to go is straight isn't it? WOW..and if you've read on the back of semis where it says "if you can't see my mirrors i can't see you" sticker, well,i've been in a semi before,he saw me,he was just inconsiderate. seriously man get all the facts before you start flaming people.
i don't know how they drive in "texass" but FL is alot more busy with stupid tourists and dumb people from haiti,so when you ride in the busy **** streets in florida, then you can rant.
