| Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. You are a new rider, getting your bike soon and need the kit to go with your new bike..
OR
You are already a rider and need to replace some gear..
Funds are limited but you want to be able to get the best you can afford for your £'s or $'s
Where do you go for your kit..
Would you buy 2nd hand clothing..
Whats the best deal you got on something..

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. I just picked up a Hein Gericke Ladies Jacket, brand new with tags and retails at £185 ($370) for the amazing price of £53 ($106) on ebay..
Why??
Because it had sat on a mannequin in a bike shop as their demo item..

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. That is one kickass deal you got there, Loopy! I also source my gear on the wonderful world of Ebay. Since I am an even shorter short-ass, at 5 ft 1 very few shops stock anything in my size, so used gear on ebay has filled that little niche.
Anyway I have no problem with used clothing - so long as it's clean enough and in a good enough condition when I get it, or cleaned by me after I got it.
My most notable buys:
Hein Gericke Tribal Jacket £40
Matching trousers £35 as zip was broken but adequately repaired.
Sidi black rain boots - size 36, so small that no one fits them, £55 approx
All used, but new and clean enough to do my CBT/DAS in, and re-release onto ebay if I changed my mind. Well, obviously I haven't!
THE BEST buy I have ever made on ebay, was a 99p NEW toner cartridge for my now obsolete Minolta printer! |

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. You short guys are lucky. Try buying anything mesh in tall sizes. I'm starting to think that Frank Thomas is a real life Munchkin as his regular sizes are fitted to Leprecans. He also has sizes for Umpa-Lumpas, but not for anyone over 5' tall.

How tall are you Nedro?

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. Wow, I must check out this ebay thing, I've heard of it but never considered buying anything from the site!!!! Those are some good savings. I tend to go for last yrs stock, from makers like Richa, the quality is very good, the product is cheaper because its not a big brand name. I know it works, because I see club lads and road racers, who spend every cent they have on racing using and falling in the same gear. I do tend to go for arai lids, they really do fit my head better. Tried other brands but the fit is not for me. |

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. I got great deals on Boots, Winter Jacket, Winter Pants, gloves, Helmet, & Two piece leathers at the year end sale they have in Peterborough....... when I was up and Working in the UK. the two Piece was 60 quid..... Berik's with Titanum inserts.
I dont remember the exact deals, But I do know that in all I paid 1/4 of what the stuff is marked in the shops.
But the thing is you must wait for the last day of the sale, and untill the last few hours. |

I could not fault my bargain purchases

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals.. I just bought a good used frame for my MZ Skorpion Sport on ebay for $100 so it's back on the road again!!! The Thumper makes for a nice change of pace now and again.
I've not been burned by ebay badly except for buying used forks that were bent. |

| Re: Skint Riders... And Good Deals..
I have been stung on ebay but that WAS because I had decided to ignore the screams of my intuition. It was one of these i-pod clones that could be had for less than normal, and that was because the thing was "hacked" - even it thinks it's 4GB, when it only has 1GB. It was my only negative feedback that I have ever received, and that was because the seller retalliated to my negative feedback.
Anyhow, I have learnt my lesson now. If it's too cheap to be true, it probably is.
And NEVER send anything in the post to the buyer until all monies have been received. There are some dodgy types out there. |
