Looking for new forks for 02 954

Any one know where to get used front forks? or anyone have any for sale? My left fork has a leak and got the seal replaced and still leaks. I think its out of round causing it not to seal properly. My guy who replaced it replaced the right side too and that one doesn't leak at all. So i know he did it right. Just looking for newer forks. I thought about buying a new set from service honda for 500$ apiece but just wondering if anyone out there has any better thoughts about this.......

Re: Looking for new forks for 02 954

I'm having seals put into my '94 CBR900RR forks right now. Did some research prior to taking the parts to the shop and you might consider:

- Any rust or pit can cause the new seals to degrade and leak; polish those fork tubes with glass polish or something similar if necessary.

- Installation is tricky and the seals can be easily damaged. It's possible your mechanic is only batting 50%.

- There seems to be quite a bit of interchangeability in forks and fronts.

This doesn't specifically apply to you but here are some notes I took off this forum for my own bike:

use 929 triples or 954 triples. and the whole rest of the front end. dont get a 600rr front end they are shorter as well as 1000rr front ends. but you need the 929 954 triples for sure. you can use the 929 triples and get a 1996-1999 gsxr forks or hayabusa forks brakes and wheels. they will slide
right into the 929 triples.

While the SRAD forks (including the TL and Busa) will slide in they are about an inch longer than the 929/954 forks. My '98 GSXR has the fork tubes set 30mm above the top clamp.
1000RR forks are the same length as 929/954 and a straight swap into the 929/954 clamps. As far as I'm aware the 929/954/1000RR and the SRAD/BUSA/TL are all 213mm centres on the clamps as well so axles and spacers also fit.
Can you tell me the length of your 900RR forks (axle centreline to top of tube)?

I'll have to get back to you on the length because they're at the shop now getting seals.
