There were witnesses that were presumably willing to give evidence since they were the reason for the knock on his door. The videos were just shown to the court for their entertainment value :-)

It seems to be considered perfectly acceptable?

| Re: Tw@t of the day I know it is done, and I know people think it is acceptable but if you want to do extreme speeds find a d@mn track! Thats what they are meant for.
If you want to do stunts do them in an empty parking lot, or something of that nature, NOT on a city street! You would have to be a d@mn good stunter to be able to avoid an accident in a wheelie!
I just feel there are too many things that can go wrong at any given time. Especially in traffic, residential areas (are NOT meant for bikers, especially areas that could have children!). I would much rather be safe than sorry. And with 3 kids of my own, I sure as h3ll wouldnt want someone doing that in my area, why would I do that in theirs??? |

Dont you think they young have minds of their own and do stuff some fullish I admit but thats the learning procees. Its the essence of man to explore so they dont need videos to encourage them. If our minds wernt set to pragram and reprogram itself, we wouldnt have this modern world.
You know some kids will watch that and think the same as you, others will think its fun but tbh adults watching will think the same. |

At least he stunts with FULL LEATHERS, unlike the bigger twats that do so in enclosed areas with tee-shirts, jeans and runners! They are just asking for trouble if you ask me. |

It's that anyone seen on a bike gets tarred with the same brush. People will assume you were doing something stupid a few moments ago even though they didn't see you doing anything. |

So its a lose lose situation anyway. | Perhaps, but the thinking is if enough of us are seen to disapprove of this type of behaviour on public roads (and are seen behaving ourselves on the road) then they become isolated. |

The other little problem is that those that disagree do so amongst the biker community, so its just a case of preaching to the converted. |

| Re: Tw@t of the day If you want to balance on one wheel buy a unicycle. If you want to go fast on one wheel put a motor on your unicycle. Motorcycles were designed to take turns and accelerate at high speeds. Not to ride on the back wheel. I admit it is a rush to get the front wheel in the air. But is it worth it if you loop your bike or get a reckless driving ticket? Or worse goto jail like this guy and lose your driving privileges. |

| Re: Tw@t of the day I have to disagree.
Wheelies really hone a number of riding skills including throttle and clutch control and shifting gears since doing anything with the controls while on one wheel requires a lot more finesse than usual.
The thing that keeps a rider interested in learning them is the acheivement of something that is a lot of fun. It's a lot more fun improving your control of your machine this way than doing endless laps of carparks.
Stoppies must have hugely improved many, many rider's braking abilities that otherwise would never have made the effort to learn to use the brake as effectively.
All of these "stunts" offer advantages to riders but such things must be practised in the right circumstances just as learning to twist the throttle wide open should be.
It's the real world out there that we all live in and real riders are doing these things every day all over the planet. Rather than pretend it isn't happening or trying to convince them to stop which is a totally wasted effort (even if Police helicopters fired on such riders they'd still be doing it) it's far better to push the safety aspect and proper circumstances for it.
One day I intend to learn to go back _down_ the gears on one wheel!
