honda motorcycle serial numbers

i am wondering if anybody can tell me what year and model my engine is from. i just bought it from somebody and they arent excactly sure what is was from. the serial number is SC33E-2010264. Please help somebody

I just googled the piss out of it and got nothing.

I'd call the dealer on this one.

Or mabye the Dept. of Motor Vehicles, I dont know where your at. But doesnt the motor and the frame come with the same serial # from the factory? If so it would be on file.

The SC followed by a number is the model of your motorcycle.

E.g. the SC50 is the 954CC Fireblade manufactured from 2002-2003.

1996 will be SC33E-2000......
1997 will be SC33E-2100......
1998 will be SC33E-2200......
1999 will be SC33E-2300......

There is a difference in CC also - you will be able to tell the difference by the stamp located ion the outside of the engine casings that states either a 893cc or 919cc - which differentiates between the 93-95 and 96+ casings.

it is stamped 919, and what i was told was that it was a 99 cbr 919, but he wasnt comletely sure and it only the engine and wiring, so i wanted to ask around and check if anybody could help, and thanks to both of you for the reply and any furthur narrowing down would be awesome, i am just so stumped.

What exactly are you stumped about?

Well twincam really narowed it down for me but i just have the engine and for future parts and things i need now, i need to know what year and make it comes from, or at least the year range like 96-99 i think it is.

From the serial number it looks like a '96 then.

Is the 919 Hornet still an SC33 model code?

No, the serials don't match but it _may_ be on file if the shop that originally sold the bike happened to record it and are willing to share the info with you.

unfortunately i only have the engine, and have never had the frame or anything else, which is why i am so stumped, but as far as people are saying it a 96-99 cbr 900 but any furthur help would be great, thanks

I don't understand what more you want to know.
The engine is an SC33 so it's a '96-'99 919cc Blade.
The second digit of the engine number being zero indicates first year of production - '96.
