| Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? Well, I'm here in Washington state at Fort Lewis doing our mobilization training (my Army reserve unit was activated), and I had to curl up in the foetal position, cry, and leave the Fireblade in the garage at home. I couldn't find a buyer.
What should I do to store it long term? I have a roommate that can do the necessary stuff, but right now it's just up on stands with nothing else done to it. I figured you guys would know what to do. |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? add some fuel stabilizer to the fuel, that is the most important thing, otherwise your fuel system may get gummed up.. |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? Eventually, yes it will die. How long is your assignment? Get a battery tender. It'll keep it charged up as needed. Or just buy a new battery when you return safely. |

ummm, no. That will drain the battery and running the bike through the gears on on the stands is dangerous...
Just leave it up on the stands and add some stabil and throw a trickle charger on it to get the battery at it's optimum level

I'll be sure to stay safe, as much as it depends on me anyway
I kept putting off buying a trickle charger because I thought it would sell at the price (5k), but no one bought it, and I got too busy getting ready for deployment. So would it be better to have my roommate run the gas out of her on the stands (it's up on stands right now), and take the battery out? will it hurt it to run it out of gas? |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? You're better off filling it up and adding Sta-Bil otherwise you're risking rusting on the inside of the tank. Make sure he runs it some so it gets through the fuel system. Have him google "long term motorcycle storage" and he'll find instructions. TY for your service, kick some ass over there. |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? Thanks guys (and girls?) - I'm ready to go. This'll be my second time around, so hopefully we can get the job done and get out :-)
I'll ask my roommate to put the stabilizer in her. Thanks for all the advice. |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? I would fill it with fuel, (stabilizer if you will be gone a long time...like 6 months) Put it on a battery tender and have him start it every 2 to 3 weeks to run fuel through it and keep the coolant and oil running through. The battery will get weak over time anyway so who cares if running it drains it a bit more....but running it up to temp with fans comming on will keep the internal seals from getting dry and keeps them soft (when they harden they will start leaking as they shrink a bit).
bottom line be safe over there and come back to enjoy your bike (write your mileage down and see how "much" he looks after your bike. take care sir and I thank you for your service. |

| Re: Deploying overseas...selling the Fireblade? keep it for when u get back! lube the chain etc, make sure all that stuff is well lubed, fill the tank, put stabiliser in it, keep the battery charged, get it started regulary. it should be fine, all the stuff the others have said, and good luck over there. |

It's only a year, so none of the chemicals will break down or anything. Battery is the only real issue, but if you remove it and sit it on a wood palet (not directly on the ground) it will be fine. |
