I don't know what a Magna is (unless it's made by Mitsubishi?)
If you can't get specs from your dealer or the workshop manual then I'd go with 0.12mm IN and 0.20mm EX assuming it has rockers. If it uses shims or the valves are quite long I'd open those up by 0.05mm just to err on the cautious side.

Re: need valve clearance specs on 84 v45 magna

I googled it and it's just a VF750 :-)
The cams on these engines are prone to failure so inspect the cam lobes very carefully for any signs of pitting or flaking while you're in there.
Strangely, specs seem to be 0.12mm for IN and EX.

Well,thankyou..a little info..basically the Honda V45 magna..was/is a v-4 750 cruiser..a kissin' cousin of the famed VFR Interceptor by honda....also a v4 ..basically..i have garnished three sets of specs for intake/exhaust values//in mm..first .12/.12. .15/.25 /....and lastly .15/.15....so..basically i'm still at door one..it's a bit of an anomally..usually, it is not too hard to find these specs online..but i have never seen so much disinformation on one bike..a popular one at that..so if anyone out there in Honda land has the correct specs.on a 1984 honda v45 (vf750c)to make matters worse there are three generations of the aforementioned bike..so the closer to an "84" the better.make a Canadian happy..lol

Yes..that's exactly why i'm so determined to get the right values..cam failure..apparently to tight results in premature wear of the cam lobes..i also found it odd that intake and exhaust were duplicates..so that makes the .15/.15 the correct clearance (HONDA Mechanic Bulletin)..but the bulletin just stated >.15..did not state intake or exhaust..and having not a clue what the values were in the first place..well..you get the picture..thank you for your diligence

The 0.15/0.25mm are for the later shim engine, which is understandable as shim clearances tighten up rather than loosen as rockers do.
As long as yours is the rocker engine go with the 0.12mm on both.

If it had any bearing on it, I would expect too loose to do more damage than too tight. When the clearances are too large the lobe hits the rocker much more violently.
Being a V-engine with both intake valves within the V it may be that the intake valves don't run as cool as they do in an inline engine (compared to the exhaust valves) which explains why both cams run the same clearances.
