Re: Oil change at 6000Km
the service info for my UK RR8 states 8000 miles interval for oil change (after the initial 600 miles). Same interval as I had for my 2003 VFR.
I think historically, the biking fraternity (including dealers) were all set for oil change @ 4000 miles (~ 6000 km). But things have moved on specially the quality of motorcycle oil. Not only the mineral oil are better these days compared to 10 or more years ago but also there is a good selection of fully synthetic oil motorcycle oil.
As b'racer has pointed out, there are always local variations. If you want to be sure, contact the main honda technical people in SA & get them to confirm the correct interval.
Of course it won't hurt the engine if you change you oil at half the recommended interval; only your pocket. But remember, you ought to change your oil + filter at least every year even if you do less than 6000 km (normal road use).
As for running in, if in doubt, follow the owner's hanbook method
