929 Shock on a XX

Just wondering if this would work and would it be an improvement?

Re: 929 Shock on a XX

I think it's actually an older CBR900 shock that fits the XX. I'm sure someone here has more detail.

The older generation RR's ('95 in particular) shock is a bolt on deal. From what I've read on the CBR1100XX Owner's Org. the newer 'blades shock would require a different dogbone (but doable).

An improvement?... Yes, according to those who have done the mod in question, not an Ohlins, but a step in the right direction. I intend to try this myself, when I get aroundtoit . I've had a '95RR shock laying around for quite some time.

Thanks for the quick replys! How difficult would changing the dogbone be?

Wouldn't be that big of a job if you are already set up to change the shock. I don't really know what dogbone they are using though… someone had mentioned an adjustable link. (A little more research would probably turn this up)

BTW, I should also mention that those that have done this mod also change out the spring for a heavier one (remember the XX is 100# heavier than the RR). There are pics on the site, mentioned above, of someone's XX with a 954 shock installed. The piggyback reservoir barely cleared so you may want to check that out before you go through with the job.
