Let's talk facts then, shall we? SPORT RIDER performance data, straight off their website, including the most recent same-year testing done on both machines: CBR1100XX ('99) quarter mile 10.40 @ 136.14; measured top speed 176.1 GSX1300R Hayabusa ('99) quarter mile 9.97 @ 144.80; measured top speed 189.6
Scoreboard my man. Nobody here said a Honda Blackbird is a slow bike, but if you're outrunning Hayabusas (even with your lightly modified machine), you're either racing idiots that don't know what they're doing, or kids who are afraid to turn the throttle tube all the way to the stop.
You faintly remind me of the kid who was bragging to me at the bike shop the other day about outrunning a state trooper on his Gixxer 600 (of course, I just smiled and didn't happen to mention what I do for a living). He said he showed 177 mph on the speedo and he hadn't even clicked into top gear. |

Motorcycles are fast and all, but it's pretty easy to answer your own question. |

My first race practice I'm out running around passing people thinking this is no biggie...then the green flag dropped.
You didn't like the facts a Busa has better aero than your XX. Sorry, so sad.
I've ridden an Akra XX with altered ride height and sticky tires in the canyon. Sweet sled. Not overly impressed with the power compared to even a 929. Smooth with comfy ergos though.
"Racing", like you speak of, is not racing that I speak of. Let's see timeslips son.
Just the facts. Let your bullshit spouting walk.

Mine has a full system and therefore kills busas because nobody on this earth has ever installed a full system on an XX. Your quoted times are therefore null and void. |

You people are reading way too much into this, confused and now more irrelevant information. Now we have a test from 1999 which is about as useful as my X-WIFE. I have been on every Blackbird Forum in the world looking for someone with ball's and a TWO THOUSAND TWO XX that has a FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM to compare note's with and can't find one, I have only seen one other XX with an exhaust but he has a turbo. Read it over, I didn't say I was "blowing away all the EYEABUSER'S". An earlier post gave a link to test's done that back me up nicely, the 2002's are different. Honda has never given an official H.P. or performance rating for this model. My bike run's away from older XX's with slip on's rapidly. Ya'll have verified the point of this whole topic by your responses without ever seeing what an 02 XX with a full system and a crazy old 165 lb. man twisting the throttle can do. I shall get a timeslip next time work allow's. One of my riding pal's has a Busa, strapped, with all the bolt on goody's and adjustable power commander, run's a 9.50. We can race all day long and he's three bike length's ahead of me in the 1/4, every time. When we dump on at 100 we are side by side forever.
Scoreboard my man. Nobody here said a Honda Blackbird is a slow bike, but if you're outrunning Hayabusas (even with your lightly modified machine)TWO BROTHER'S FULL EXHAUST, NO POWER COMMANDER, STOCK GEAR'S NO MODIFICATION'S. you're either racing idiots that don't know what they're doing, or kids who are afraid to turn the throttle tube all the way to the stop.

WHERE ARE THE TWO COMPARED?

929? I QUIT. |

WHERE ARE THE TWO COMPARED? | Look at the rear of the bike. The whole story is told there. At least to this ME's eyes, and yes, I have done windtunnel testing, though I am not an expert in the field.
I have also seen it said in motorags that it's the best when tested. I personally haven't tested one, but looking at the bike, if the wind is directed straight into the front, I don't think any production bike is much better.
Best I can do without the money and bikes to test it myself. |

Is the section I'm in, I have to keep going back to my original post to see what has happened here. I made a statement and asked if I had an extreme 2002 XX hoping to find someone else to compare note's with, instead of intelligent conversation about XX mod's and info I get the crap beat out of me and a whole lot of totally worthless information that instantly confirmed the original topic. Blackbird's get no respect, I stated all the fact's, got no reason to lie, no one has come forward with an 02 XX with a full system and said anything yet so W.T.F.? |
