| Re: No Respect There's a guy with a Black XX in town that has never shown up for ride's or BikeNite. I have only seen him at this little bikeshop a few time's, stopped there the other day and he was having a Ti-force full system installed. It looked good, I went to http://tiforce.com and they redid the whole site since my last visit there, look's good. |

| Re: No Respect Simple answer- at 141HP with a full system you have a totally average '02 XX, nothing special about it. If anything it's a little low on power, mine turned 139 bone stock.
Happy?
Also, unless you bought your bike in CA or overseas, it never had catalytic converters. |

I'm not going to bash anything you have said....YET.
But I have an idea......
Lets say in a month or so, when the tracks open back up....I bring my Blade and Busa to Florida where you are....and lets say put up $500 minimum, and I will let YOU choose which one you want to race in the quarter...and if you want some of the other one, then we can put up another $500!
Whathca think about that???? |

| Re: No Respect blah blah blah.
I've smoked 1100XX's at VIR up the front straight on my "little" 600RR... Thats coming UP HILL with a piss-poor drive I was able to do so... His XX had a full erion and a re-gear (who knows the change!?) and I was stock geared, stock piped, etc... I was smiling. He was not.
I think I'd get own'd by one on the street or at the drag strip, but in the close course it's always a toss up... |

Originally Posted by kf4mtw Will your 99XX out run your 954 and 929 in a straight line dump on from 2'nd gear? | I dunno, it may. Your XX dynoed ~130 stock right? How much does it weigh? 1999 XX weighs 557 according to Sportrider's scale (954 = 429 on their scale).
I don't know if the weight changed much from year to year but it's still a good 125 lbs difference. I don't know the average dyno of a 954 but mine did 137. I weighed it at work and it weighs 427 lbs with nearly a full tank.
So lets divide the weight by the horsepower to see who has the greater power to weight ratio.
Using Sportrider's stock numbers
Stock XX 557/136=4.1 lbs/hp
Stock 954 429/134=3.2 lbs/hp (hp is the average of 2 different 945s they test 130 and 139 hp respectively)
Stock 2002 Hayabusa 560/158= 3.5lbs/ hp
Now you can do the same thing with torque as that will give you a really good Idea of driving force at the wheel if you know the specific gear ratio you can get actual pounds of force at the wheel. I'm not gonna do that because I don't feel like looking up the gear ratios for all three bikes. Here it is disregarding the gear ratios
XX 557/83.7=6.7 lbs/tq
954 429/69=6.2 lbs/tq
Busa 560/98.4=5.7 lbs/tq
In the roll ons the torque matters most (along with gearing and eventually aerodynamics) and at the drag strip the area under the horsepower curve matters the most.
Frankly, the XX will lose to a Busa in both events and probably will lose to a 954 in both events as well. Just like the numbers above show...Sport riders times for all three bike follow:
*********** 1/4mile 60-80 80-100 Top Speed
XX ('99) 8/99 10.40 @ 136.14 3.41 3.89 176.1
954 ('02) 8/02 10.23 @ 137.57 2.8 3.01 164
Busa ('99) 8/99, 9.97 @ 144.80 3.28 3.47 189.6
Please note that the XX is slowest in every objective acceleration test, although there are many variables (also notice the huge difference between the Busa terminal velocities and the other bikes').
In conclusion, I second what everyone else here says: take it to the track and see how you do against other bikes. I used to drag race my Camaro and my little 600 (poorly) and I regularly witnessed lightly modded Busas in the upper 9 second range!
Good Luck.
