Were XX's ever available without ABS?

Just curious. I'm not a fan of ABS brakes.

Any year XX's that were available w/o ABS?

Also what are the differences between linked braking systems and ABS?

Thanks!

None of them have ABS. They all have LBS though, if that's what you mean.

Oops, yep sorry that's what I meant. Were they ever available w/o LBS? And again what are the differences between LBS & ABS?

*edit* Did the VFR come w/ ABS? I know for the VFR you had the option of buying it w/o the ABS/LBS or whatever, just wasn't sure about the Blackbird.

I remember a mechanic telling a friend of mine that he couldn't install SS brake lines because of the LBS, was that accurate info?

LBS just means that the brakes are linked, so that if you slam on the front brakes, it applies a little rear brake as well.

ABS is Anti-Lock, just like on cars. Available on the VFR, and a couple other models. (GoldWing and ST1300 I think?)

You can install SS lines on an LBS bike. You can also get De-Link kits to convert them to independent.

Thanks Conq, good info. I can't believe the # of mechanics that are full of crap!! My friend was disappointed and never mounted SS lines because of what he was told.

Thanks for clearing up LBS vs. ABS.

Any downsides to LBS that you or anyone has noticed?

Re: Were XX's ever available without ABS?

A lot of people don't like LBS. It doesn't bother me, because I've always used the method of applying both brakes when I brake anyway.

I'm just wondering what could happen if you lock up the rear brake on a gravel road surface, could the front's be applied too much causing a problem?
