What Oil

Hello,
In '98 when I bought my '97 Blackbird I read a lot on the forums about what oil people were using in this machine and I've been using Mobil1 15-50W ever since;which I read(15-50W) didn't contain the "Moly" additive which would be harmful the the wet clutch in the Blackbird.(79k on the unit now) I now have a 2003 Blackbird with 5k and I'm going to choose what oil I'm going to use. Any input from the experienced would be wecome. Thank you...

Re: What Oil

Well, since it's a wet clutch, just make sure whatever brand/weight that you buy is JASO T904-MA or T904-MA2 compliant, and you're good to go.. API "S" whatever (like SG, SJ, etc.) won't tell you if the oil is approved for wet clutch operation (you can and will find oils that are both API and JASO approved).

Maybe Repsol? It is API and JASO approved.

Re: What Oil

amsoil is my favorite. my 929 had dino oil when i got it and i switched to amsoil at 12k miles. fwiw i actually feel a difference in the power curve. im not saying its a hp adder but it definately seems to pull harder to redline than it did. feels smoother too.
